Re: [IC-7000] WTT: Icom IC-706MkIIg
I have a 7000 but plan on keeping it. If someone was wanting to just outright buy your 706, how much would you be asking for it? I am looking for a back-up rig.

Re: reliability reports of ic-7000
It is hard to compare the reliability of the 7000 to other models based upon individuals' experience and forum postings. Many radio failures are caused by poor installation practices and operator

Re: [IC-7000] Question about recording...
John,
That is not possible. You can use an external record/playback device connected to the acc connector.

Resistance is futile.
(don't know about reactance, though)

Hi John,
Regarding plugging/un-plugging things while they are on, it really depends
what circuits are being switched. You can safely plug the headset because
the temporary short circuit conditions

Re: [IC-7000] Question about recording...
If I record a received SSB signal by pressing REC can I then resend it ? to allow the originator to hear his own voice?
Sorry if its just a simple question but I just cant seem to find out how to do

Re: [IC-7000] PTT Switch Failure
DeoxIT is definitely the way to fix this problem (assuming a cold solder joint isn't the root cause). I usually spray anything that hiccups with it, but I guess I was just looking for more work

Re: [IC-7000] PTT Switch Failure
The original Alps P/N was SKHHLP014A, per the Icom service manual. This part has been obsoleted according to Icom, but they didn't know the new Alps P/N they are shipping as a replacement.

I use the 6 pin port with SignaLink USB and MixW 2.19. So I can use all the modes that the software supports.

Re: [IC-7000] PTT Switch Failure
I also had the intermittent PTT issue about 3 or 4 years ago. As someone said
before, the switch is not sealed. I was able to clean the contacts with DeoxIT
from Radio Shack & it's been fine ever

Steve - Do you have an Alps part number or a Mouser stock number for the

Re: [IC-7000] Its Back
Hmm, I don't ever recall plugging anything in while the unit was on. I'm
usually very good about that. Not that it couldn't have happened of course.
I may have missed it but what's the cost for this

Re: [IC-7000] PTT Switch Failure
I took the defective switch apart and inspected it under a microscope to see why it failed. The switch has a snap action metal membrane that is slightly dome shaped. There are three contacts inside

Hmmm... My mic PTT switch has been getting flaky lately.
It occasionally fails to make contact. It clicks, but nothing happens.
Just last week I thought I was talking to someone, then realized
