It is hard to compare the reliability of the 7000 to other models based upon individuals' experience and forum postings. Many radio failures are caused by poor installation practices and operator

John, That is not possible. You can use an external record/playback device connected to the acc connector. 73, Carl AB1DD Resistance is futile. (don't know about reactance, though)

DeoxIT is definitely the way to fix this problem (assuming a cold solder joint isn't the root cause). I usually spray anything that hiccups with it, but I guess I was just looking for more work

The original Alps P/N was SKHHLP014A, per the Icom service manual. This part has been obsoleted according to Icom, but they didn't know the new Alps P/N they are shipping as a replacement. Mouser
