Re: HF 60 meter band

Steve W3AHL

The original 7K's allowed transmission only on the five channels authorized for 60M amateur radio use by the FCC in 2003.  In 2012 the FCC removed one channel (5366.5 MHz USB Dial / 5368 MHz Channel Center) and replaced it with another (  5357 MHz USB Dial / 5358.5 MHz Channel Center).  To enable the new channel on radios prior to serial # 0514455, it is necessary to remove diode D2172 on the Main board.  This opens up the entire 60M band (not just the FCC allowed channels for amateur radio).  I suggest adding the USB Dial frequency into memory to avoid operating outside of approved channels (or Channel Center depending on modes used).

For more details see:  http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Regulatory/Recommended_Practices_Version_6_5.pdf
For Icom's 60M mod see:  https://groups.io/g/ic7000/files/Service%20Manual%20and%20Icom%20TechnicaI%20lnformations/7000_60_meter_mod%5B1%5D.pdf

7000's after serial # 0514455 have all of 60 meters enabled, If it is older you'll need to remove a diode(or something similar) to enable it.

Mine does, but I have to be very careful with the dial to make sure I am in the middle of the channel. Mine is from around 2014. I think some of the older ones do not have 60 meters.

Re: Cant change or enter Final Idle Cur(430Mhz) in service menu

Sure enough, the UHF PA WAS BAD.  40 Ohms gate to ground. Replaced it, now around 1500 ohms gate to ground.
This can easily be seen during the Service Menu "403M Final Idle Cur". When adjusting the bias to max, the DC voltage at the gate wouldn't go much above 0.7VDC compared with 2-3V on the VHF PA gate. The low resistance at the gate was loading down the bias voltage circuit.

Hi all,
The item that I was talking about a few days ago arrived and I charged it up and connected the external speaker of the ic-7000 to the unit's transmit socket. I paired the Bluetooth headphone with the transmitter ( it also  can receive as well from an BT audio source and connected it to amplified speaker).
As see on the picture attached, the unit is on and sending audio (blue flashing light on) to the white BT headphone (cheapie one!.
as per the book, the range is 10m!

Connecting digital mode interface to acc port

MARCO EVANGELISTA

I want to do true RTTY connecting my digital modes interface to the ACC port of my IC7000.
The FSK output ot the interface is open collector. May I connect this FSK output directly to pin 10 of the ACC port?
Or do I need to add a pull up resistor?

And for CW, given that the CW of the interface is open collector, may I connect it directly to the KEY port of the 7K?

I would appreciate any help much.

Re: Bluetooth interface

Hi Eddie,

I looked into this about 18 months ago.  My search led to to purchase a couple of BT modules from Amazon.  The problem with with both of them was that one had  a Tx/Rx switch depending on whether you wanted to play your phone to your AV system or connect WiFi headphones to them, and the other, which looked more promising but wasn't, auto sensed whether you had the jack plugged in to the Tx or Rx connector.

No doubt you could build some "glue logic" around the auto sensing one to carry out the switching but it just seemed like too much trouble so I sent them back.

What I did find was the KC-6112 BT Audio Gateway by KC Wirefree.  KC Wirefree have published a reference circuit on their website and a variation of this was implemented by KG4JJH which was published in the August 2013 edition of QST.

Since then there is also a BT unit using the KC-6112 published on instructables.com.

Only for the CAT, not the audio, of course.

Re: Bluetooth interface

I suspected that was the case that the Repeater Book app would not work with "clone" BT adapters.
The BlueCat will do all of the CAT -IV work as well.

Re: Bluetooth interface

Hello, I have this Bluetooth Interface also. This Interface is only to use with CI-V Signal, not for audio. I wanted to use this Interface at my Car with the Handy App “Repeaterbook” but this App has a Mac-Adress Filter and will only work with the Original-BT-Interface from the builder of the App.

This Interface can also use with an BT-Interface on a PC / Laptop, to read/write the memory of the IC-7000. But this Interface is not very useful. I can not recommend to buy this interface. The Money for this can you save for any things.

That doesn’t look like the rear of an IC-7000 (at least not mine).  What are the input/outputs?  - just audio?  There are laterncy problems with older bluetooth’s.

Re: Bluetooth interface

I am also very interested in this bluetooth adapter and if it will work with the BlueCat Repeater Book.
It seems that it will work with the CAT-IV to select the frequency and perhaps work the PTT.
