Only for the CAT, not the audio, of course.

Re: Bluetooth interface

I suspected that was the case that the Repeater Book app would not work with "clone" BT adapters.
The BlueCat will do all of the CAT -IV work as well.

Hello, I have this Bluetooth Interface also. This Interface is only to use with CI-V Signal, not for audio. I wanted to use this Interface at my Car with the Handy App “Repeaterbook” but this App has a Mac-Adress Filter and will only work with the Original-BT-Interface from the builder of the App.

This Interface can also use with an BT-Interface on a PC / Laptop, to read/write the memory of the IC-7000. But this Interface is not very useful. I can not recommend to buy this interface. The Money for this can you save for any things.

That doesn’t look like the rear of an IC-7000 (at least not mine).  What are the input/outputs?  - just audio?  There are laterncy problems with older bluetooth’s.

Re: Bluetooth interface

I am also very interested in this bluetooth adapter and if it will work with the BlueCat Repeater Book.
It seems that it will work with the CAT-IV to select the frequency and perhaps work the PTT.

Re: Cant change or enter Final Idle Cur(430Mhz) in service menu

Ian Benjamin VE9HB

Hi Spiros
The loss of driver idle current occurred while I was going through the service menu setup. It was just over 2A, so I decided to bump it up to 2.5A. First you have to dial the current back to zero to measure the baseline current, and then dial it back up to add 2.5A to the baseline. At that point the process setup process hung, with the current intentionally dialed back to zero.
I hope its just a software glitch, and not failure of the driver. As far as I know, the UHF was working.

Hi Ian,
the most likely cause is that the RD60HUF1 is in slow death situation or its damaged and you have to change it.

Cant change or enter Final Idle Cur(430Mhz) in service menu

Ian Benjamin VE9HB

Hi everyone, first post in this group.
I am working on an IC7000, have the original problem pretty well fixed, but managed to create a problem for myself.
I went through the TX adjustment menu and did all the preceding Idle Current setups just fine.
The last item in the DRIVE/FINAL IDLING CURRENT,   "430MHz idle current"  was more of a problem.
The current value I found was a bit low, so I decided to set it to the correct value, even though the original problem was in the HF bands.
(I know, I know, if it ain't broke.......)
At first I couldn't get the current to drop to zero. Not sure how I managed to enter the 00 current setting, either by exiting the service menu, or by power cycling the radio. Now, I cant enter a non-zero bias current, or put back the original value.. Have tried all kinds of control, menu sequences, no luck.
Has anybody encountered or fixed this glitch?

BTW, original problem was low HF power on 20m band. Turned out the 20m band drew more current than the others, and tripped the overcurrent protection which was set too low. Drawing 20.5A @ 100W out.

Thanks
Ian VE9HB

Re: Microphone

Joe

I think this question might originate from CB radio days where the mike had to be plugged in for the radio to work? I seem to remember some AM CB sets that required the mike to be plugged in because the PTT switch not only keyed the radio but did some fancy switching of the audio circuit. The same circuit was used for the receive loudspeaker and the transmit AM modulation.

Anyone else remember those days? Or am I having yet another day of cranium flatulence?

Re: Microphone

As far as I can tell from the schematics there is no problem with the mike in either position on no mike at all.
That would apply to receive or transmit as there are digital communications modes that do not require the mike for operation

Re: Is it possible get a tension on N connector in RX mode for external preampli for vhf / uhf ?

Leroy Higgins

You can make your own Bias Tee.  See this link: http://www.hayseed.net/~jpk5lad/K5LAD%20Memories/Vols%2031-35/Memories--Vol33.htm

I would build a Bias Tee in a metal box because of noise pickup, or radiation on a transmitter cable.

There are more links at the bottom of the above web page link.

For a receiver bias tee, a ceramic capacitor would be a good choice.  For a transmitter Bias Tee, I would use 3 or 4 ceramic capacitors in parallel to handle the current, and not overheat.  A ceramic doorknob for a transmitter cable would be best, if available.

HI Chris,
when you switch to an hf band, obviously you receive on hf. However, if you are in MEM mode,  you transmit on the frequency of the current memory channel, which in your case is likely to be on 2m.
Switch to VFO mode to solve the issue.
