Heil recommended the ICM for my modern IC7410 & told me not to use one of their dynamic mics.  Have you owned a 7410?  A dynamic mic will work on it, but if used with VOX, expect some difficulty as the MIC gain & VOX gain are not well matched.  On my 7410, I have to run VOX gain at 100% & antivox at 0% and then speak very closely to the mic to get it to key using VOX.  Meanwhile the mic gain is only at ~11 o'clock.  Heil has a video out regarding Heil's & ICOM.  Icom only sells amplified Electret or amplified Dynamic mics for the 7410. - Bob

Bob will argue with you on that, but the ProSet Elite with the standard element and cable with blocking cap works great on my 7000.

I use the Heil icm on my IC-7410.  No problems of which I am aware.
I used the Heil HM-IC until I bought the icm. It's now on my IC-746.

There has been an IC-7300 group on Yahoogroups for several months.
Adam Farson VA7OJ/AB4OJ is the owner/moderator.

It does seem to be problematical to get membership, though.  I've
been intermittently trying to join since Adam announced the group.

Steve,

I did the test recording as you mentioned and be ok.

I will make a careful inspection of the DDS IC301 and if no good result will send to a service center.

I have no equipment to check deeper. I appreciate and your help. So you've done the check inform you.

However good and always report these types problems in the group and their possives solutions.

Thank you so much!

Paulo,

If the voice recording test is OK, then the problem may be with IC301 or related circuits on the DDS board.

Troubleshooting will not be easy and would probably take a spectrum analyzer, scope (at least 100 MHz BW)  or perhaps a frequency counter.  It sounds like there may be a problem with in the loop filter circuits.  Very careful inspection of components around IC301 with a 10X magnifier or inspection microscope, looking for poor solder joints, etc. would be my first step.  I've never had to troubleshoot the main DDS circuit.  Lots of luck!

A service center would replace the board and not waste time troubleshooting to the component level.

Hi Steve,

Here the answer to the questions:

Just to make sure I understand the problem:  when you change frequency, in RX is there any audio heard and is it only static?  In TX there is audio, but only static, heard  by the receiving station?

Exactly! By turning the dial does not have the audio of who is transmitting. Only static. And I S9 noise (static)
The transmission this stable until move the dial.

Does this happen on all bands (HF/VHF/UHF)?  All modes (CW/USB/FM)?  How often does this happen (always, usually, occasionally)?  Is it worse on one band than others?

Does the frequency seem stable and accurate when listening to one frequency, with no slow or rapid drifting?  Do you notice a change between when the radio is cold compared to warm?

It happens always when turning the dial quickly. (raipid drifiting)

This happens on all bands in all modes. It happens every time you turn. It is cold or hot.

When you transmit, what does the ALC indicator show (and in what mode)?

ALC and other indications are normal, to turn the dial.

To test just the audio DSP circuit on the Logic board, try making a voice recording (page 96 in my user manual), then listening to it.  Does the audio sound OK?

I will try this.

Any other details, such as what you were doing when the problem first appeared, etc. might help.

Also happens using the CI-V interface.

I have no TX and RX when moves the dial. And pressing the PTT has no indication on the ALC display, SWR, Po. etc. However, the TX LED lights and no power out.

Thank you so much!

Hello guys,

I came by to report a problem on my ICOM IC-7000, and see if anyone can help repair logic in search of the solution:

equipment alloy usually has Rx and Tx signal, but to change the frequency by dial (VFO) or up / down / memory he completely loses reception and transmission is audio but only "static". Only returning regular reception after turn on again.

What I've done:
applied reset, checked flat cables and wiring.
But not yet took the plates, only the covers.
Does anyone have an idea? Which line should I follow the service manual search solution ... DDS, Main Unit, PA Unit, Logic, Display Unit?

PS .: I know the most basic of electronics and only have soldering station, dummy load, digital / analog meter, power meter and patience.

Grateful to all.

To all,

Whenever there is an obvious SPAM posting on a yahoogroup, it could either be deliberate or as a result of a member’s computer being infected with a virus or worm.  Most often, it is the latter.

If a member has full posting privileges, the SPAM posting will get to the list.  If moderated, the moderator will kill the posting before it gets to the list.

The only way to prevent SPAM messages on a group such as this is to moderate everyone, and review every post.  This would not be acceptable to the majority of list members, and takes more time than a moderator has to offer.

So, SPAM messages will come through from time to time.  I you really want to avoid this, set your group settings to “No E-Mail” and just review posts on the web.  Otherwise, use your  key.

What is not appropriate is to reply to the list criticizing the post, the lack of moderation or to offer advice to the moderator;  and THEN, to repeat the inappropriate post as part of your post.

Being on a Yahoogroup list or moderating a list is voluntary.

The situation has been handled, as similar situations that occur in the future will be.
