To access the power plug you have to unsolder the driver board, rf connectors etc, but it is not all that bad of a job. On my IC7000 the problem was really with the plastic body and the pins were OK. I had to get under the board for other repairs, but while there I did replace the plug body. Basically I don't pull the plug that much as I use Anderson Power Poles extensively. Basically it is not that hard to replace the speaker jack either, but first I would make sure that you are using a true 3.5 mm plug and not a 1/8" as they are smaller and often don't make good connection. Before I sent it off I would make sure that I had a very good 3.5 mm plug and see how that works for you.
