It could be a bad fuse and fuse holder as this is common, those fuse holders are the Achilles heels of the 7000.

Or more likely as it happens on one band, that you have an issue with RF feedback into your shack. Make sure that everything is grounded and tied together really well, and that if you have the head remotely mounted that the little screw that goes into the connecting cable is installed. (It grounds the head unit, and I have seen exactly this same behavior when this was not connected). If you try both of those and still have issues, then you could have a problem with RF coming back into the radio from the coax cable shield. This can occur when the shack is right under the antenna, or in situations with mobile installs.
