Glaucous Gull, Crescent

Alan Mapes

A Glaucous gull is with a group of herring and ring-billed gulls just west of the route 9 bridge,
south shore ice sheet on the Mohawk River.

took 2 tries, but found what I expect is the same glaucous gull Al reported yesterday, a nice 2nd cycle nearly pure white with typical bill pattern and short wing projection past the tail; currently on the ice shelf across from the crescent park overlook on the Mohawk. ice on the river is rapidly disappearing and gulls are quite scattered. the light is definitely better here than it was 2 hours ago, and should continue to get better into the afternoon.
