The HMBC field trip at Five Rivers this morning found 50 species, plus one or two others that were seen before the group met up. Highlights included Palm, Yellow-rumped, Blackpoll, and Tennessee Warblers, Northern Parula, Common Yellowthroat, Blue-headed Vireo, White-crowned Sparrow, Solitary Sandpiper, American Kestrel, and Hooded Merganser. Thanks to all who participated. The group list is at https://ebird.org/checklist/S95820764

This afternoon I checked Basic Creek Reservoir and Stanton Pond. The usual ducks are showing up in decent numbers, including 168 Ruddys at Basic and around 100 American Wigeon at Stanton. On Appleby Road in Coeymans a pair of American Kestrels were trying to chase off a Cooper’s Hawk.
