Five Rivers today

Today (March 11) at the Five Rivers Env Ed Cntr in Delmar, on a beautiful sunny 68 degree day, highlights included a pair of Killdeer on the green roof of the visitor center, where they have nested for the past several years.  Additionally, other birders told us that they arrived yesterday, and were observed mating today.

A Bald Eagle flew over the Beaver Pond, and a pair of Hooded Mergansers were on that partially open body of water (thanks to Tom W for the tip). They took off and flew west, above the trees, probably leaving the grounds.

Several flocks of 30 to 70 Canada geese were flying north. Red-winged Blackbird displaying in the Heron pond marsh, and they and Grackles were around the feeders, with 2 Turkey Vultures flying about.
