An Osprey was beginning construction of a nest on a power line tower behind the Crescent Power Plant this morning.

At Vly Creek Reservoir, three Red-necked Grebes were resting on the water.

Basic Creek Reservoir held mostly Ring-necked Ducks and Buffleheads, but there was a small group of gulls resting on an ice patch that contained six Bonaparte's and five Ring-billed.

Alcove Reservoir had a male White-winged Scoter, and about ten Long-tailed Ducks, these being located at the spillway end.

Water is running very high everywhere, with creeks out-of-bank, and the Mohawk flooding its backwater areas.

At five rivers this morning, notable birds included 2 golden-crowned kinglets, a pair of hooded mergansers, and a marked increase in Eastern phoebes.  Otherwise fairly quiet in terms of new arrivals.

At Stanton Pond, 3 ring-necked ducks and 3 lesser scaup.
