Great egret at Five Rivers
Here's the great egret flying into a tree high above the Goose Pond. I saw it later perched in the Sunfish Pond. It remained there for about an hour.

Sunfish Pond at Five Rivers

There is an immature Snowy Egret as well as two Great Egrets this morning at Champlain Canal Lock 2, south of Mechanicville. They are currently on the Saratoga County side, northwest of the lock.

There are no white Egrets at Cohoes Flats this morning, and the only shorebirds present are 4-5 lesser yellowlegs and a single least Sandpiper. Perhaps more birds will come in if the water level

Tom W, Lindsey D, and I all looked for the egret/heron at Lock 2 this morning without success. Great egret numbers seem down a bit, so it may have moved elsewhere, or it could be hiding somewhere.
