At Hudson Pointe's nature trail* yesterday (Easter), I THINK I heard a northern parula off in the distance.(In the new Bull's Birds of NYS, though, it says the earliest record for them is April 27 -

Stopped by Collins Lake about 7 am this morning (4/6) to check out the
ducks and lo and behold I saw 4 white birds in a tree on the island

Cattle egret
We checked at Collins Lake this afternoon at 5:30 PM for the cattle egrets,
with no luck. What Lou saw must have really been their take-off for parts
unknown. There were wood ducks there however.

To the delight of Ian and I Saturday afternoon, we found 4 OLDSQUAW on the river along Rt. 4 on our way to Ft. Edward. 3 males (2 in summer plume, 1 still in winter) and 1 female. SHORT EARED OWLS
