Thanks to Jim de Waal Malefyt's ebird posting, we ventured out to find the red-necked grebe at Fishermans Lane (Schaghticoke). On our convoluted way back home we saw and heard 4 Sandhill Cranes from Anders Road, Pittstown. Super! E-bird list attached.

I heard my first Eastern Phoebe of the season today, too!  I was surprised, as we’re usually a week behind everyone else in the region.

An Eastern Phoebe has returned and is inspecting the nest on the shop.  Hopefully the Brown-headed Cowbirds won't infiltrate the nest again with their eggs.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Also, I've had an adult Red-shouldered Hawk hanging around for a couple of days but I haven't seen or heard the juvenile since last week.
