Additionally, the Schoharie Creek is very much open and not far from this sighting.

I have seen a mature eagle pair at both bridges nearby in Esperance and Burtonsville.

Great Blue Herons will often change their diets this time of year from Fish and Frogs to mice, moles and voles. I've seen them waste deep in Snow drifts in the middle of fields hunting.

That being said, they much prefer open water.
