Problem Starting Logger 32 Version 4.0

John

Just tried to upgrade to v4

All looked fine and logger started. I could see my last ten entries in my log. Was Happy.

The a window showed up saying:

Database:C:Logger32\Logbook32.Extension

There is a problem with database synchronization.

The statistics do not match your logbook.

Please recalculate your statistics.

I clicked “OK”

Then another window showed up saying:

Run-time error “5”

Invalid Procedure or argument.

Clicked OK

Logger shutdown.

Any help appreciated.

Make sure Logger32.exe is configured to run 'as administrator', and your security/AV software is not blocking Logger32 from database access. SeventyThree(s).

A full release of v4.0 is not scheduled for a couple of weeks. As it appears you're dead in the water (so far you're unique), you'll need to go through the pain of reinstalling v3.50 from scratch (detailed instructions in the new documentation). 73.

... on second thoughts, it would be much simpler/easier to find out how/why Logger32 is not able to access the logbook database. I suspect your security/AV software or Logger32 permissions settings are the cause of the problem. In all cases for the last 20 years, the error 5 message you describe is a result of security/access restrictions. 73.

It happened to me as well.

But only error: "Run-time error “5”

Invalid Procedure or argument" all the time.

I deleted old 3.50 Logger32.ini

The program ran well.

Did auto upgrade to new 4.0.235 well.

Then I replaced Logger32.ini to old one (3.50.424) previously saved and did next corrections
in it:

Logger32 version=3.50.424
Last updated=18-01-21 20:54

to

Logger32 version=4.0.235

Wow. I see my old new 4 logbook! :)

...I believe it was necessary to recalculate the statistics before
updating to ver.4

Err Um

As I recall I installed the update to C Program files\ Logger32

This when I opened it was still 3.50. so I repeated the exercise to the same location.

That’s where I am now! (I don’t think I did it wrong first time but “anno domini”)

Should I move those misplaced to the proper place?

It starts as ver 4.0.132 with the note that the stats’ don’t match the lookbook, recalculate.

It starts as ver 4.0.132 with the note that the stats’ don’t match the lookbook, recalculate.

Press OK and up pops the runtime 5 error.

Press OK and the thing shuts down (but leaves the CW machine on screen)

Any more ideas please?

Cheers

Remove the misplaced files. And, where exactly are you now. What happens when you run Logger32? 73.

Err Um

As I recall I installed the update to C Program files\ Logger32

This when I opened it was still 3.50. so I repeated the exercise to the same location.

That’s where I am now! (I don’t think I did it wrong first time but “anno domini”)

Should I move those misplaced to the proper place?

Chris, I have no idea how you ended up with all those files in the C:\Program files directory. Is it possible you tried to install the upgrade package in C:\Program files and not C:\Program files\Logger32? 73.

Thanks Bob.

I’ve had a good look & found all the files in my folder;

C\ Program  files\ Logger32

However several have leaked out to;

C \Program files

They are

CW.exe

Logger32.exe (a duplicate of what’s in my folder)

Logger32 Rollback.exe

QRX.exe

ST6UNST.log (this one is titled Logger32 ver 3.5.421 -> ver 4.0.132)

There is another ST6UNST.log in my folder titled Logger32 ver 3.50.0

I am loath to move or delete anything without asking first.

Now what should I do please?

Cheers

Did you follow the instructions exactly, or did you maybe get a little creative  and make a copy of the \Logger32 directory?

I have no doubt they lined up to get that call. It happened once before when I was in Kuwait ... The shit really hit the fan over that :)

Hi Bob

I just did the upgrade and got the exact same result as John.

The program is running under administrator.

Any other things I could try please.

PS now I’m reminded of the 9K2ZZ days, did you know its been re issued?

... on second thoughts, it would be much simpler/easier to find out how/why Logger32 is not able to access the logbook database. I suspect your security/AV software or Logger32 permissions settings are the cause of the problem. In all cases for the last 20 years, the error 5 message you describe is a result of security/access restrictions. 73.

A full release of v4.0 is not scheduled for a couple of weeks. As it appears you're dead in the water (so far you're unique), you'll need to go through the pain of reinstalling v3.50 from scratch (detailed instructions in the new documentation). 73.

Will a full install of V4 solve this ?

I always back up every day. Even adif.

You can repeat it as many times as you like. 73.

Hi Bob,

I have never had problems updating Logger32, even as far back as logger16

It does run as administrator. Logger32 has always been allowed in antivirus program.

Make sure Logger32.exe is configured to run 'as administrator', and your security/AV software is not blocking Logger32 from database access. SeventyThree(s).

Just tried to upgrade to v4

All looked fine and logger started. I could see my last ten entries in my log. Was Happy.

The a window showed up saying:

Database:C:Logger32\Logbook32.Extension

There is a problem with database synchronization.

The statistics do not match your logbook.

Please recalculate your statistics.

I clicked “OK”

Then another window showed up saying:

Run-time error “5”

Invalid Procedure or argument.

Clicked OK

Logger shutdown.

Any help appreciated.
