Logger32 start problem!
Guenter, DL3XM
Hello to all. I recently installed Logger32 on a new PC with Win 11. The program ran without any problems.
For a few days now, the program no longer starts, i.e. in the middle of the start process with the start logo, the start aborts without comment! I have reinstalled without the existing logs - same problem! Always started in administrator mode. I suspect that Windows caused the problem after a possible update. Has anyone observed a similar problem or has a reference to it. Thanks in advance 73 de Guenter DL3XM |

Try running Logger32 in Win7 or Win 8 compatibility mode. Edit the Logger32.INI with Notepad. Find the line [Globals]. on the line below it, add this line
Enable error trapping=True
Save the change to the INI and try again. If that doesn't work, then I have no idea what the problem is. SeventyThree(s)

Hello Guenter
Try to change to windows 8 (or 7) compatibility
mode with the right click on the icon of logger32
And i don’t use admin mode to launch
logger32.
(but my logger folder is not on C: )
If the UAC is disabled all should ok

thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunately, your hint was not successful. I had also tried but not successful. UAC was already on low level and also with "0" nothing worked. Admin-Mode is necessary to update Logger32 automatically. But this does not seem to be the problem. I use the program since 2015 and even on my laptop with Win 10 there have never been problems with these settings. Thanks for all 73 de Günter DL3XM Am 14.03.2023 um 16:15 schrieb F4FQH Olivier: Hello Guenter |

Hello Bob, thanks for pointing that out.
Unfortunately it did not work. Here is a screenshot. I am frustrated. I have been using L32 since 2015. On my Win10 notebook everything works fine and with this new PC with Win11 nothing works. Whereas the installation worked about 6 weeks ago. Only now a few days ago this problem occurred. Probably after Windows update. Thanks for the help. 73 de Günter DL3XM |

The first error says there is a problem reading the line QRZ AutoLookup=False from the Logger32.INI file. QRZ AutoLookup=True is acceptable. What is it? Delete the line. Do not leave an empty/blank line.
The second error says there is a problem with the line Child Lock=False from the Logger32.INI file. Child Lock=True is acceptable. What is it? Delete the line. Do not leave an empty/blank line.
Save the changes to the INI and try again. SeventyThree(s).

Dump Logger, uninstall etc. Then download a clean fresh copy then import your backup adif file.. I have the same problem! Logger32 starts to load up, gets as far as 'Trim nuber of Rollback files', then quits. I looked at the Windows update history, but there hadn't been any updates when L32 suddenly quit on me about 6 weeks ago. I've tried doing a fresh install, but I get a similar problem; L32 loads up, gets as far as 'load lotw users' and then quits. I really miss L32 and would like to find a solution. Others have gone as far as reinstalling Windows 10, but nobody seems to know what the actual problem is.

I have now also tried everything as Ken described and have not come to a solution.
I'm curious what really hides behind it as a problem. Now the specialists are asked ;-) Thanks for your efforts in advance. 73 de Günter DL3XM |

I think you're walking backwards. Now the INI is empty and Logger32 appears to freeze when loading the Cluster Window. My recommendation is to reinstall the full version of Logger32 (do not copy any files from your other working PC). SeventyThree(s).

I have completely deleted the old installation of L32. Downloaded "L32 v4.0 full install" and
completely reinstalled L32 - just like GM4FDM suggested - and did not copy any data from the previous installation. The screenshot and the INI show the result. I am faced with a riddle. 73 |

Hi
Guenter and Ken, if you have more than one partition or disk in your
computers, try to install logger on an other disk than C, just to see what’s
happen.

Hi folks,
I have been using Logger32 for about 20 years and feel unhappy due to problem discussed here. In my case the problem started with last Windows update (15 Mar). I have tried everything relevant described here, but without any success. Even "clean" installation (from scratch) does not work. I tried to install old version 3.50.xxx too but it ends with the same error (Logger32 stops without any system message). The difference among versions is the last message in the temporary start window before the program ends (see mark in the picture) : "Check database syns" - most frequent message in the ver. 4 "Loading LoTW users" - last message from "clean" installation (first start after running full installer and no data) "Fix uninstall registry", "Turn ... of Rollout back files" - message from older versions 3.50.xxx I am using older computer fortunately without last Windows update and Logger32 (ver 4.0.268 ) works without any problem, so problem origin must be win update. For this reason I have uninstalled last Windows updates (installation date 15 Mar) but there is complex update KB5023696 I cannot uninstall by computer maintenance tools. There are other hints how to fix 0xc000041d (for example clean windows update distribution directory etc.) but I had no success at all. I have investigated system event log (errors) and found following: error (exception) code: 0xc000041d error offset: 0x080a61f0 error caused by module: C:\Logger32\Logger32.exe event ID: 1000 Task category: 100 My system: Win 10, 64-bit, ver. 10.0.19041.2604 I have no idea what to do but hope my info can help somebody to find a solution. 73, Milan OK1DMP |

This is a usual response from Bob. Program is great, The guru is rubbish. Who knows if it just AI anyway? Milan, When you did an unsintall of Logger 32, did you do a restart with everything deleted on your computer? Sometimes it does not totally uninstall and you have to make sure everything is gone. It is of no solice that your problem is unique to your computer system as no one else is having this problem. By the way, perhaps you need to move to Windows 11. This may help as at present, Windows 10 is not working for you. You maybe able to do so at no cost.
