html email

Fred Decker <fdecker@...>

Just wondering general feelings about html mail. If I allow attachments,
we can have pictures included in the messages and other things from time
to time, however this can be abused and the messages are about 3 times
larger. I welcome thoughts from people who know about html messages as
they apply to groups and how they feel about the. I like them, but in a
large group, sooner or later is can be a problem. Do we test the water?

Fred, I would say no. HTML can include a variety of bad things,
including virus
macros, ect. If we could, I would set the server to bounce a
HTML.

Fred,

As a person who has just joined the list I must say do not go the HTML
route.Plain text is far better ito downloading and more of the message
can be viewed as opposed to Uncle Sams daughters nephew baby pictures.

Fred,
No HTML please,it's only asking for trouble. Also try to keep the
topic to "LOGGER only", and not get off topic. I believe this caused
alot of the problems before. I hope Bob continues to help answer some
of the more difficult questions and continues his work on the best
logging program in the ham community.

Well the results are in, some people feel strongly, some not as strongly,
but all don't like html email! So, that's what we will do, text only. If
anyone wants to show pictures or examples, you can reference in your
messages and put them up on the web site. All members now have access to
http://www.egroups.com/group/hamlogger Ther is a "files" section there
that we can all keep in mind. You have to register with a password at
egroups to be able to access this as well as change your profile so that
people can find out more about you if you want to share it. We can accept
your links to interesting sites and files you want to share with the
group. Thanks for your input.
