Is anyone able to successfully use the "eMail alerts" function to alert you for needed cluster spots? The outgoing emails generally work (both manually generated test messages as well as real-life notifications), but about 25% of the time, Logger32 hangs up during the process. While Logger32 is still partially functioning, I get an hourglass and I get no further incoming telnet messages. When this happens, I'm forced to close Logger32, open Windows task manager, manually stop the Logger32.exe process, then restart Logger32.
I've tried sending the email messages to various SMTP accounts that I have and I've also tried installing Logger32 onto two different Windows 7 PC's. Nothing I've tried allows this feature to work reliably. What am I missing, or is this a bug in Logger32?

I had about as much luck as you with this, and eventually gave up
trying to make the email feature work. It did sometimes work, but
often would hang up Logger32. I have left all the address/password
boxes populated except the ones that define when to send a text,
so if it ever starts working, I don't need to revisit those .
On the upside I now use a mobile phone app by G7VJR (Mr ClubLog)
called "dxlite". It has to be manually updated, so is low on cell
resources. Sure, it does not warn you of specific DX but is a
pretty useful tool to tell you when to get back in the shack.
Michael says he gets up to 400 hits/second on it.

I could never get it going to my outlook account, but works fine on a freshly set up gmail address.

Pete, on your Outlook account have you tried using IMAP protocol instead of POP3.
It works fine for me here, but I had to turn off my mailwasher, since that required a manual accept.

Ask and you shall receive?
Logger32 just auto updated to version 3.50.336 and it would appear the "eMail alerts" may now be working properly. I see the set up screen for email-sending has changed since the last software version. I didn't change any of my settings (I'm using a Gmail account), but it would appear that my problem has been resolved. Perhaps more was changed than just the set up screen?
I've received about 10 spot-notifications since upgrading to version 336 and so far there have been no failures. I'm hopeful and optimistic.

John Munton <JOHNG7SSE@...>
Rob
DX Spot window, right click and look in the Setup menu.
Have a look in the DX Spot window section of the help file, scroll down to paragraph 2.9.6 eMail alerts.
