Re: Cannot install Logger32 on a new machine - Runtime error 5 - Invalid Procedure call or argument

HI Dave

Yeah it is strange and I really want to know from the software coders what is the extraction process.

1. Download zip file
2. Extract to temp dir
3. Create Manually Logger32 dir in c drive
4. Run setup.exe in the temp dir

NOW...at this point should the cab files be extracted by the setup and what does it do with them? For some reason they are being put into the c: windows dir along with the another copy of setup so its setup1 and also the standard uninstall items.  So digging deeper and trying to find out why.....I have seen others with the issue and as a technical person who spent years installing and looking after systems I really want to know why and how to fix it before the having to reformat and reinstall.

So if any of the software coders are reading  what is the process.....

Thanks
John

I have a new to me I7 with 16gb of ram and win10 pro. Never had any trouble putting Logger32 on it or on the SSD replacement drive I put in it.
Seems strange your seeing that error.
I have it on a win10 I7 laptop also and I bet there is still a copy on my I5 desktop  .

I will have to think long about formatting the HDD and starting the whole thing again.

Coincidentally, Rick <N2AMG> and I were discussing this off net. I'll attempt (see NOTE 1) to add this to Ver 4.0 of Logger32. SeventyThree(s).

NOTE 1: Without the benefit of either a Pi or a radio with CAT.

John.

Likely HDD or even a memory issue. A new SSD can be had for buttons these days. Is there any other weird stuff going on pointing to that possibility? Depending on PC, you may be able to run a BIOS memory and HDD check. In fact, I would definitely remove the memory, clean the pins using isopropyl, blow out any dust and reseat.

Or run a virtual machine and install it in that :-)

Now for some reason the system is putting cab files into the c windows dir. Not sure if this is normal or not as there are no logs that I can see being generated and the lst file does not show the operations in easy to follow way

I have deleted all the things and did as you suggested. Created a temp folder on the desktop. Downloaded 350 ver and put in the temp folder then unzipped into that folder. I then ran setup and it came up with the save Invalid property value and unexpected setup error has occurred.  Now when you look at that error it can mean various things and again I will say there does not seem to be a log to see where its failing.

Hi Villi,

i saw you are using IC-7300. I am using this TRX also and have a "small" problem on RTTY.

PTT is not switched to TX immediately, there is a small delay approximately 1 or 2 seconds.

The same situation if TRX switching back from TX to RX.

How on your side? Is your TX/RX switching working immediately?

Best regards Martin OK1WCF

Is your port com4 a dedicated PTT port, not the port that controls the radio?

I don‘t have the IC-7100, but on my IC-7300 I use the Shared Radio Port, and all is good.

Connecting FreqEZ to Logger32

Also, check your DTR / RTS settings for the PTT Keying Line

My Icom 7610 requires that this is set to RTS.

Your 7100 might require the same.

Try "PTT by radio command" if CAT works.
