anybody got any suggestions?
Manual says to use RTS/CTS flow control and this is
not an option in Logger. Maybe I am missing something.
I have the 570 working with other programs.
Thanks in advance

I have the same rig & use the 6.09 ver of Logger. From the Config
box, set it to Kenwood (any), then set the radio port settings to
match the rig. There is a setting for rts/cts but is marked only rts.
Good luck, Paul

Need HELP with Logger !

scooter@...

This is the second install of Logger I have attempted. First was
7.03,latest was 7.04. I posted a message earlier, but no reply. After
entering a page of old logs (using ADD) the program comes up with a
DATABASE ERROR box (like the one on initial install) about couldn't
find your notepad.....when I click OK the program closes out to the
windows desktop. After that, any attempt to start logger gives the
entry screen, then the main logger program screen with the same error
box displayed and clicking OK closes the program....

Any ideas? I don't want to enter any more data if that's the best I
can hope for...(I don't type that well to begin with...)

Re: Logger and my Kenwood TS-570D

Fred Decker <fdecker@...>

Same here, I have no problem running my 570 at 19.2 baud. That is the
fastest I can run it due to limitations with other software and I want all
three programs to be able to control the Kenwood. Make sure the baud rate
in the rig is correct FIRST, then set things in your software. You might
need to turn off the rig leave the software and come back again to make
sure the port is cleared.

I've seen your pleas and sympathize! How about you enter a few calls using
the LOGGER window. Go back and correct the time, date and frequency (click
on the call sign in LOGGER and then pick the fields to change). Then close
Logger. Maybe that will establish the file THEN try and ADD the QSOs.

Worth a shot??

Re: Need HELP with Logger !

K4SB <k4sb@...>

OK, Scooter, let's see what we can do.

When you first ran it, did Logger say it was creating a notepad?

Second, you did give the log book a name didn't you?

Simplest way to add QSOs is just to type them into the QSO box.
Let everything default to the current date and time, and then
after 10 or so, edit them and put in the correct time. It is also
very important that you enter a frequency! This will bite you in
the ass later when you ask for a Stats readout if you don't.
Something as simple as 21.000 will do.

Hi Zakanaka friends!

I forgot to tell you that frequencyreadout in Zakanaka is now correct with
my TS 850. I am very happy that PTT in Zakanaka is working by radiocommand

Thanks Bob. Now please some time to solve the instabillity problem. Like
KB5XG already reported I experienced the same problem.
You can easily observe and monitor in the 3rd window right from BPSK on the
bottom. Even after playing with the AFC.
If you are going to make a qso on let's say 14071,188, after 5 minutes of
receiving and transmitting with a station which does not move 2 Hz, for sure
after 5 minuters you are far off the QRG where you started.

I did not observe that problem in Digipan.

K4SB <k4sb@...>

I completely agree with Ray's comments on the comparison of other
digital programs against Bob's. If you don't like it, leave and
use your favorite program.

And to aid in that, here are complete uninstall instructions.

1. In Win.ini there is one line under [Applications] which will
have Robert C. Furzer in it in text. Delete that line.

2. Delete the Logger files and remove the directory, and throw
the icons in to the waste basket.

Unlike some programs, Bob doesn't fill up the system registry
with a lot of garbage.

The truth of the matter is that there are one hell of a lot of
different radios out there, and it is nothing short of a miracle
that 1000s of users are having no problems.

As for the drift problems with the couple of 870s, I would
seriously consider having the radio checked for stability. After
all, Logger is ONLY reporting what the radio is sending to it.

Visual Errors

Bert Rathkamp <rathkamp@...>

After a night of testing Video cards, some 20 versions with various mother
boards I have come to believe and have seen waterfall instability due to
video driver or poor video drivers along with mother board CMOS conflict(s).
In no way do I feel these problems are due to your program since it would
have produced the same problems in all cofigurations

So guys just don't blame the program because of hardware problems.

If you think you got problems with these programs you had better stand back
and catch a deep breath. You think you got problems then try this one ... A
major brand accounting program shows one set of dollar figures on the screen
and prints another set of dollar figures??? It got me, I suspected either
video, print drivers or CMOS problems. Since the mother board had the
latest CMOS installed I decided to change video board mamufacters and the
problem went away. I got two more suspect video cards and they showed the
same screen error. The video card manufacture was another major brand
supplier.

You got to know that viedo screens for accounting programs are not very
complex as comparied to Logger or Zakanaka.

You think you just got the latest and greatest computer, it meets all
operating system requirements, there are no problem with device drivers ...
guess again because you just got had! Just ask the gamers about computers
systems and conflict hardware problems. You computer supplier said, "we
have never experienced a problem like that" , well that can go with the rest
of the world greatest lies eg "checks in the mail", "I love you" etc.

Bob, you have done a real nice job. Grace Hooper would probably roll in
her grave if she saw some of the email you got. Now I bet some want to know
who is Grace Hooper.
