Thanks for the reply. To clarify however, there's a small "DX Cluster"
window (upper right) and then the "Packet Cluster" window. If I sit down in the shack, turn on the 2m rig & tnc and then connect to the local cluster there are NO spots in the "DX Cluster" window (yet). So I type SH/DX in the "Packet Cluster" window to find out what the last few spots have been while my packet gear was offline. In the XMLOG soft- ware I was able to click in this window and QSY the radio too. I was just curious if it could be done in LOGGER or not. I guess not !!! It's really not a big deal to have to MANUALLY tune the rig for those first few spots until the "DX Cluster" window starts listing the spots. Did I understand that you don't even need to be connected for the "DX Cluster" window to fill up with spots? I really like this LOGGER program !!! 73, Steve - K2SC --- K4SB <k4sb@mindspring.com> wrote: carrollst@yahoo.com wrote:__________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? BUT that window only receives data for DX spots that occur AFTER you have connected. So a Show/DX won't be of much help in that case. Stay connected for a while or send a DX spot as a test and see what happens. Yes Logger will pick up the packets and post them even if not connected BUT unless you have a great path (I don't) it's risky since you're never sure if ALL the packets are being received. 73, Rick VE7ASR

K4SB <k4sb@...>
Yes, you definitely do not have to be connected to get spots in
the small window. Am trying to get Bob to extend the filter capability to the Cluster window also. Remember, any filters you set for packet are ONLY applicable to the small window. BTW, Bob told me yesterday that he expects to release the first version of Zanakaka ( or however it's spelled ) by the end of the week. 73 Ed

The packet code is set to look at the next spot which appears and see if it is substantially equal to the last one. For example, let's say you are monitoring a cluster with 20 people connected. I put out a spot. That spot is then sent to the other 19 connections by the cluster. So, in essense, you have in this example 19 chances of getting the spot. Just imagine the first 5 or so are missing some iformation. Since they do not represent the proper protocal for packet, they are ignored. Let's say #8 comes through OK. You will see it displayed, and of course , #9 through ? are ignored. Of course, the odds of your getting the packet under marginal conditions are a function of the number of individuals connected to the node. 73 Ed

enough and pulled the plug. He expressed that none of the old archives or anything be revived or associated with him. He may profide info about people who want to be on a list, but if each person goes through their old emails and sends a notice to people who aren't over here yet, we will grow again quickly. Re: Hi

Hi Fred,
Thanks for picking things up. Bob, K4CY, responded to an email of mine regarding importing LogWindows to Logger and told me of the group's move. He said someone here might know the whereabouts of any of the routines that would convert my LogWindows logs to Logger. Can you (or anyone else) steer me in the right direction for that? Thanks, Terry, WØFM

File Conversions
B. Charles Sutton <charliesn@...>
Hi All,
I am attempting to find copies of older versions (any other than 7.3) of Logger. If anyone has them could you e-mail them to me directly, or point me in the direction of where they can be found.. I'm doing this in an attempt to convert Log files from version 1.51 (DOS). I have been unsuccessful in reading these logs with version 7.3. Bob, if your reading.. Am I missing something on the DOS import or are version 1.51 logs to old for 7.3 to import?? Thanks! Charlie.... KB1EXS

Pegasus
Fenceboy <bleuthold@...>
I have just purchased a new Pegasus from Ten Tec. I have installed some programs and am looking to find what would work well with the Pegasus. The programs I am looking at are Logger, ACLog1.5 and Digipan. I know Digipan is for PSK31 that I am very interested in trying. I also operate rtty, cw and voice. I am looking for someone that may already have the Pegasus in hopes of finding out what programs work hand in hand with the Pegasus control software. My computer is a HP 8590C 600 Mhz pentium III with 32 Gig hard drive, CD and DVD drives. I'm sure the computer is up to date enough to handle the software programs so the main issue is to find what programs work
well with the Ten Tec. Any help is well received and appreciated. Thank you, Brian NM3G ______________________________________________________________ Get free Internet service and email at http://www.worldspy.com

Use Telnet (in Logger) <> IZ4AFW Interface (SW - www.qsl.net/iz4afw) <> SV2AGW (SW TNC - www.qsl.net/ok2wo). It works for DX Cluster Monitoring/Connection (no file transfer is supported). 73 Josef

Re: Flexnet

Could you explain what these are? I went to both of these pages and wasted 30 minutes and have no idea what they are talking about. This is not because I am not technical, it is because the pages are so poorly organized and have no FAQ or simple explanation of what the products are and what they do. I take is SW in the first one means that Fabio has a software program that does something? And SW TNC means that you don't need any hardware, there is some program that emulates one? If so, how is this any different from what Logger can do internally just using a telnet connection to any of the net links? Thanks! Fred N4IXL

You must download it, unzip and read README and HELP files if you are not "in picture". Because the setting of Flexnet is more complicated than AGW Packet Engine I supposed that you are experienced user of that. Sorry for it. If you are beginner in Packet I suggest - buy good TNC and use Logger Data terminal. It is simplest and quickest way. Otherwise you must learn, learn, learn - as Lenin told before 90 years... I take is SW in the first one means that Fabio has a software program thatSoftware by SV2AGW is "virtual TNC" which is working in computer memory (just as Flexnet). It uses some serial port for connection with simple modem (Baycom, YAM...) or KISS modem (any TNC which can be switched to KISS mode) as well as soundcard. You must decide what hardware you will use. More about Baycom modems or KISS mode you can find on appropriate pages. Read AGW manual! Software by IZ4AFW is a "bridge" or "pipe" for data transfer between SV2AGW virtual TNC and Logger. Because it uses TCP/IP protocol you must use Telnet terminal for connection with IZ4AFW interface. All is clearly described on Fabio's WEB. If so, how is this any different from what Logger can do internally justIn practice you must (if you want to use these programs) run all by this order: 1. Run SV2AGW (stay resident in memory) 2. Run IZ4AFW (stay resident in memory) 3. Run Logger, than Telnet, than call local cluster node via IZ4AFW as described in Fabio's page. Connect to cluster and use normal commands (SH/DX...). Or (if no connection is checked in IZ4AFW) you Telnet will connect to IZ4AFW and will monitor the traffic on your local node. DX spots (DX de....) will be automatically transferred to Logger for your info. I hope you are now more "IN". Very please, read manuals/helps first. 73 Josef

If it is powered from Com port it uses RTS pin and in Logger the voltage is -9V on this pin. You must use DTR pin for powering and add diode from DTR to +U point in your interface. Also you can use external power from battery or P.S.U. (not so like it :-( ). Look for my WEB page www.qsl.net/ok2wo where is also info about ICOM interface. 73 Josef

Dear Josef
I will come back next week with more details. You are correct, these software types are replacing the hardware TNC. Then only thing which is necessary is a simple modem (Baycom connected to RS-232-Transceiver) or a Soundcard and a small transistor circuit to drive the PTT switching. Depending on the software it is possible to drive 1200b/s and/or 9600b/s)! Best regards Raffaele HB9UAG
