First, I have been a user now for about 10 years.  I will continue as I believe this is a great program and it updates continually with ideas and fixes.

So, I tried brand "X" over the weekend.  Wow, lots of features but so hard to setup but it did have one thing I really liked.

In the commander module it has a section where you can display amp settings.  These are manually entered by frequency.  Currently I use an excel file to display these on another monitor.  Could we have something like this?  Or...could we display a window that could be an excel or word file?

Re: Moving data to new computer

Hi John,

Here is what I do. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it works for me. YMMV.

Logger32 can have different CONFIG files for different radios, but I also use them for different computers.

For example,

On my shack PC I have the following config files….
CONFIG1.INI
CONFIG1CW.INI
CONFIG1DataTerminal.ini
CONFIG1MMVARISoundCardMacros.ini
CONFIG1MyBandMose32.db
CONFIG1RadioPanel.ini
CONFIG1SoundCardMacros.ini
CONFIG1UDPPanel.ini

The next computer these are CONFIG2….. and so on.

Then I use a batch file on each computer which allows me so select which config file to use.
The other job of the batch file is to ensure nothing unexpected is still running in the background.
This the first line of my batch file.

taskkill /F /IM Logger32.exe

For backup purposes I keep a copy of all the CONFIG files in my Logger32 directory on all my  computers. That’s why they have different names, and it’s another reason to start L32 from my batch file.

start Logger32.exe CONFIG1

Also, how often do we see people having ini file problems on the reflector? Now you have backups.

For backups I use a small program called BART. It’s free and works great.

I use it to copy my entire Logger32 directory in the shack PC to USB drives and the cloud.
I backup to 3 USB drives and the cloud every day.

From those backups, I use BART to take my backup and overwrite everything in my other (non-shack) PCs.
Since the CONFIG files have different names, its Okay.

Hope this gives you some ideas at least.

73’ Pete, N5KD.

Gang,

I have logger32 up and running on my main desktop computer.  This is V4.0.254.
I've tried to do both an auto update and a manual update to noavail and reported
this problem a couple of days ago.

I have an old netbook running Windows 7 (32bit) laying around so I thought I'd
put Logger on it as that aill fit on my cramped desk that the radio gear is on.  My
desktop is on the other side of the room.  Not very convenient.  So I did a zip of the user files (icon #2) to a thumb drive.  I tried to copy the logger directory to
the thumb drive and loading it on the netbook, but that didn't seem to want to
work.  No problem the netbook has access to my wifi so I downloaded Logger from
their website yesterday, 5/16/21, to the netbook and installed it.  It was V4.0.248.

After it loaded I unzipped the user files to the netbook and brought up logger.
All the QSOs appeared to be there in the log but the various windows I had configured and the way I had configured the columns in the  logbook were NOT like
I had them on the desktop.   So I spent well over an hour reconfiguring the windows and various columns like I had them on my dest top.

Q1. What did I need to do to get the windows and columns to appear like they were on the desktop?  I thought that by ziping the user files, that would have
saved all the various windows & columns configurations.

After I got finished manually reconfiguring the netbook to look like the desktop,
I tried to enter a couple of QSOs.

a.  If I went into the logbook page and manually entered every thing one column
     at a time, it worked.

b.  If I entered thing in the logbook entry page and pressed <Enter> the data go
     written to the logbook page.

BUT, if I moused into the logbook page and did a right clidk to bring up the menu
and selected "Add QSO" I get and Runtime-error 339, see attached screen
capture.  When I click "OK" logger crashes, it looks like I closed it.  That being said,
sometime when I try to bring logger back up, I get an error message "logger32 is
already running".  I haven't got a screen capture of that yet.  This has happened
several time, when the last couple of times I had it crash, it appears to have really
closed.  I used task manager to look for both the application and the processes.
I have see the process logger 32 still running after the crash.

Any ideas of how to fix this?  I looked and I see mscomct2.ocx and it is on the
netbook.  I tried to register is by running regsrv32 mscomct2.ocx but get and error
that "regsrv32 is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program"

Hi John or batch file.

Unusual name!

I’m unclear from your email whether you know there is a set of step-by-step instructions in the User Manual for moving Logger32 to a different computer.

The instructions advise you to install a full Logger32 installation on the new system AND LET IT UPDATE ITSELF TO THE CURRENT VERSION – a step I think you missed.

Several bugs have been identified and fixed lately, hence updating to the current version might just solve that bug you mentioned about add QSOs.

AutoUpdate fails Unable to delete files

Barry Winch

Normally the AutoUpdates go off without  a hitch, but not the one for 4.0.260:

Building D:\Logger32\Updatefiles for Ver 4.0.259

Update archive created.

Deleting D:\Logger32\Rollback files

Unable to delete files from D:\Logger32\Rollback

Apart from one of Microsoft’s incessant updates, nothing has changed in my setup from the previous. Any ideas how to overcome this?

It’s working here Tom.

Several versions ago (Maybe 3 months) I had this error in a beta version (not released).

I found if L32LogSynch was started as the last item in the “Tools | Utility program setup” screen, then it was more reliable.

If that doesn’t work, I have no clue.

One of the bugs I addressed was the reported "doSwitchRotor" error. None of the Beta testers was able to duplicate this, so I don't know if it is fixed or not. If you have seen the error, please turn the 'Enable error trapping' option to test if the fix works.

Re: Rig Control For WSJT-X #ft8

It is simple to solve.
Download http://www.eterlogic.com/Products.VSPE.html
Than you set port splitter COM4>COMxxx (for example 11)
Than set Logger32 to use COMxxx
Than you download and set Omnirig on COMxxx
Than you set wsjtx and other software to use Omnirig.
Problem solved. I use it that way for a long time. No issues.

Hi Gary thanks for the reply.

WSJT-X needs to use the USB of the TS590 to work.

The Logger32  also wants the UBS of the TS590 to control the rig..when I offer the Comm port of the TS590 i says it's invalid..the cluster uses it and TCP and UDP are all working.

So for F8 contacts, I leave things as above...the F8 contacts get logged properly on Logger32...the rig is be controlled only by the WSJT-X and NOT by Logger32.

So, I am asking the SAME USB to control both the WSJT-X and Logger 32.

I don't fully understand the next to last sentence but was able to get it configured make F8 contacts from it.
