Any idea what the 7.07 version has changed? Just curious if it is worth
the download to upgrade from 7.05

WAS fill-in ??

Tony Bean <tonybean@...>

Howdy...
I've been using LOGGER some time now... love it. But, I recently moved to a
new State and now I want to work WAS again from Vermont. However, the WAS
configuration for LOGGER has been turned off all the time I've used it, and
consequently, there are hundreds of U.S. hams I've worked since living here
whose state is not recorded...

Is there any way to have LOGGER search my CD-ROM database (Flying Horse) and
extract the State field from it and then insert it into any QSO whose WAS
field is empty??? I can do it manually, but that's really time consuming.

Thanks

There was, in fact, a version 7.06. Those were the changes as from 7.05:

Version 7.06 June, 2000
Support added for a WCY Dx Packet Cluster Filter.

Version 7.07 July, 2000
Enhancements to support Zakanaka control of Radio.

Re: WAS fill-in ??

Kn7y@...

Hi Tony,

You have asked a reasonable and intellegent question. Just with my short
experience with Logger, yet years with using a PC both Mac and IBM formats, I
think you are probably stuck with manual. When I set Logger up, I went back
and input all of my DXCC and IOTA QSL cards.

Even though many of those DXpedition QSL's included multiple band/mode QSO's,
I had to input all of the fields each time. One would think that, when you
have already entered an IOTA for one of those "ADD" QSO's, it would bring it
up the next time you added another, and then automatically set the S/R bullet
for QSL sent and received for the same call. (I believe Logger DOES include
an IOTA when you enter another call in the new QSO window, and it DOES set
the S/R bullet in the ADD window when one tabs there).

One thing you can do is to use the new QSO window to enter a call. Logger
will access the Callbook CD ROM, then you can highlight and copy the state in
the blue window, and then paste it in the log's state window. (Control-C and
Control-V) Do those keystrokes work with Logger?

One thing I would like to see changed to help in this regard, is to be able
to set and maintain a stationary window on the log page. It was frustrating
to have to continue to scroll back every time I entered an ADD QSO. Each
time the log would return to the end of the page, which quickly totaled over
1,000 DXCC and IOTA QSO's. If you could maintain your log page stationary,
tracking your WAS QSO's would be easier when going back and forth between the
new QSO window and the STATE box on the log.

I'll keep my eyes open here for some more indepth input; ready to learn more
as well.

73/DX

Jack, KN7Y

Wayne:

I use the PSK31 module within LOGGER by K4CY. Been doing that ever since LOGGER 6.07 I think it was back around July of last year.. And, I am able to add: I have enjoyed and do appreciate the LOGGER software very much.

Missing something? I think not; perhaps you are reading between the lines and have added something on your own (e.g., both are excellent works by K4CY and are very popular). Hi Hi.
I dont think that it is a common thought; LOGGER, with its PSK31 module, does not require Zak to operate the PSK31 mode and Zak Beta stands alone and operates w/o LOGGER.

I heed the warning by the author of Zakanaka that Zak is for serious BETA testing only. Since I am inexperienced at BETA testing of software and I rather play, I am managing to Have Fun w/o using Zakanaka Beta software on the
air.

Re: New version...

Charles McGarvey <cflights@...>

No Wayne, I don't think you are missing too much here. I run logger and
Zakanaka together. A neat package that works nicely together. The other
option is to use psk that comes with logger or programme the shell to load
Zakanaka or other bits of software.

Why use Zakanaka vs the psk module in Logger? For me, the Zakanaka
programme is under developement and becomes refined and a better piece of
software every day. The reflectors are a good place to come up to speed on
ideas and what's new. I am not aware of other reflectors that are as
imformative as this one and the Zakanaka reflector.

I am not sure that answers your question, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Re: Logger

Ugh, message # 2. sri I guess I missed the 'If so, how?"

I don't understand your question. What do you mean HOW?
So, I'll guess here - the software is designed to operate with a TNC.
I have both a Kam multi-mode and a pk232. I do not use either for cw.
There is also packet, g-tor, p-tor,a-tor etc. etc. that can be operated
from the software.

I don't know what you are looking for as an answer to your question.
There is a general description in the Logger help file on 'how'. So,
unless you can be specific - no more guessing here. hi (:-)

Re: [psk31] Sound Blaster 16 IDE PnP card; model CT2940

Hi Bob:

Thanks for ur info/input.
I have received so many replies directly to my INBOX and all have brought me to
the following conclusion(s):

If truly PnP, WIN95 should find the appropriate device driver on the WIN95
CDrom for the CT2940.
The www.creativelabs site should (and it has) lead me to the required device
driver. I did find a cross ref table that I.D.ed the CT2940 as a IDE PnP card
Right now, this shack is a real mess, but when I get the chance I shall install
the CT2940 SB16 card and see what happens.

Thanks again, Bob, and all the others that have offered good advice.

Dear Vince,

The model CT2940 does not ring a bell, but I would be surprised if Win 95

Creative Labs driver situation is murky at best.
