The plot thickens. If the Radio Control panel is open, it captures the F11 (as does the CW Machine, the Sound Card Data Window, and the DVK). So, try making the F11 macro on the Radio Control Panel $clearlog$. SeventyThree(s).

Enter a callsign, clear with F11, No cursor, no subsequently typed
characters. If I close the radio control panel the cursor is immediately
restored and characters can be entered in the callsign field.
