Rick Williams - VE7TK
Jim I can only imagine that keeping the database up to date is an endless task. I thank all for their efforts.
In my case TX5D was easy. I just pushed the 180 button on the SteppIR yagi controller. The heading is almost the reciprocal of France from my QTH.
I remain surprised that when I entered TX5D in the logbook entry window, pushed CTRL-P and selected FO\A that the beam heading did not change. It's a tiny issue and it can be rectified by re-mapping the prefix as you did. Also, I know it will be added to the database at the next update.
Thanks to all for the discussion but perhaps we should close this one for now.

Rick,
I was
afraid you would find that one.. It is a known exception.
I had
to update mine the other day when I made contact. I just made the antenna
adjustment manually, since I knew where he was.
Since
it was the only potential change to the database, it was decided not to
make an update at this time.
So
each person will need to update their own for the time being, if they
choose.
Its
difficult to keep track of DXpeditions, since most are short lived and do not
always warrant a database update.
It kind of like trying to change
everyone's database while a mobile station goes from Florida to California.

Jim you are correct for exceptions in the database.
Okay
here is another current example that I hope demonstrates my point a little
more clearly.
TX5D. I have the latest
programme and latest dBase (as far as I can tell). This DXPedition is in the
Austral Islands. Enter it into the logging window and it says France.
Change the prefix to the appropriate FO\A using CTRL-P and it changes
the Logbook Entry window to the correct FO\A OC and 32. (This is a case where
the database has not yet caught up with all the exceptions.)
However,
the beam headings remain on France. (Why do all the exceptions point to
France -hi?)

Rick, the bean headings will change based on the DXCC
assignment in the database,
In my case I <enter>:
TO2 Shows France @ 42
deg
TO2T Shows Guadeloupe @ 103 deg (there is an
exception)
TO2TT Shows Mayotte @ 71
deg (There is an
exception)
As best I can determine those are the correct beam heading
from my QTH,and they change dynamically as I go thru the exception
callsigns.

True. But if I am crazy enough to FORCE the prefix to go to
Mayotte then the Logger32 logging window obeys and shows it as FH AF
19. That is Mayotte, Africa and zone 19. However, the beam
headings STILL point to France.
Shouldn't
the beam heading change as well?

TO2ZZZ will not necessarily be assigned to Mayotte.
TO2D was assigned to St. Barts. a couple years ago.
There is no logic in these calls.

I'll have to check. The 3.48.1 update did not have a database
file it only had UPGRADE.ZIP with 5 files included. I did not load
3.48. The 3.47 DB had it and now TO2TT maps correctly.
That
said - with TO2TT in the database that will only resolve the current
issue. If a new call that is not in the database is assigned to FH for example, the
same problem would arise. Wouldn't it?
Try entering the hypothetical
Mayotte call TO2ZZZ for example. I think that should yield the
results I'm seeing.
Thanks for getting me to the correct
database! At least the TO2TT issue is resolved.

Have you changed the TO2TT Database Maintenance section? If you
have already done that then you're headings will be correct.
I
have not made that change.

Also the beam heading (at least from here) is correct at 31/211 15375

Rick,
Then TO2TT would have resolved as Mayotte.

Running 3.48.1 - which I believe is the latest version.

Subject: [hamlogger] Change Prefix not Changing Beam
Heading
Today
I was working TO2TT on 15 . He is located in Mayotte (FH). I
entered the call into the logging window and it indicated France (F
EU 14) with a beam heading of 34/214
at 8001 km.
Using
the Change Prefix (CTRL-P) function I pointed to Mayotte and L32 correctly
indicated FH
AF 39 in the logging window. However, the beam heading
remained unchanged at 34/214 at 8001 km instead on 19/199
at 15913 Km.
It
would be nice if the beam heading changed with the selection of a new
prefix.
