Re: Grade reports emailed to wrong parents

Are you using the Dropbox edition or the Google Drive edition? Could you send me the actual class? Email it to dethier@... ... do not post it here for everyone to see.

I'm using the web app through Google on a Mac.

Only one class is open.  An email is sent to current students on my roster, but the report is someone else's.  And, it is only the last half of one class that gets the wrong report.  The last time I sent them, the reports were for students I had 2 years ago and I hadn't opened that file since then.  It keeps happening for the same class.

I will reload the app.

Is this with the web app? Are you using Gmail or another web service? First thing to try is reloading the web app in your browser while holding the shift key.

Make sure you are opening the correct class. The program only knows about the class you open. There is no way it could send a report for a different class unless you open that class, since it would not have that in memory. Ideally, you should only have your current classes in your Dropbox. Put the older classes inside a folder so the web app cannot see them.

Grade reports emailed to wrong parents

For the past two weeks, the reports I’ve emailed out to my one class are for students from a different class or previous years.

Example:  John would get Jane’s report from this year. Or John would get Jack’s report from last year.

I’ve checked the email addresses for the affected kids.  The email address in the app is correct.  The families are getting the wrong reports.

Thank you for your help.

Re: feature request: alternative cloud storage

There are editions of the web app for Google Drive (at https://www.gradekeeper.com/google/) and for OneDrive (at https://www.gradekeeper.com/onedrive/). The Google Drive edition will always use your Gmail account to send email reports. The OneDrive edition will always use the email account associated with your OneDrive account.

feature request: alternative cloud storage

Aaron Schwartz

My institution does not officially support #dropbox and everyone here uses OneDrive.
We would love it if we could use gradekeeper without needing to use another app to save our work.
It would be great if users could select and link different cloud services (onedrive, box, google drive, etc.)

The web app may be awkward on the smaller iPad screen. Be sure to use an external keyboard.

Thanks, Daniel! Now that I’ve paid for GK for iPad and checked it out, I’ve decided I will just use the web app on my new iPad. Oh, well, live and learn!!

Gradekeeper for iPad is only for the iPad. The title says it. The iphone app is different and less expensive, but also doesn't show as much information (much smaller screen). The Windows and web app are covered under one license so you can use both paying just once, but since Apple only allows you to purchase iOS apps from their app store, there is no way to tie the iPad and iPhone apps together with the WIndows and web app.

Daniel,
I just paid $4.99 for Gradekeeper for iPad when I thought that my first paid subscription covered me on all my devices. I don’t mind paying the money. I’m just a bit confused.

Thank you!

If that is in the instructions on the website, I certainly couldn’t find it.

Daniel,

I’m sorry to bother you with this question, but I can’t remember if/how I can fill student scores down in the web app, and I can’t find the answer online.

Custom Sort

Patricia Samuelsen

I figured it out. It’s the same problem I had at the beginning. I had left a blank assignment when I added several to the end of the file and then tried to sort them. It’s that blank assignment that gets me.

Thanks.

Re: Custom Sort

I tried with Chrome and had no problem. The custom sort window appeared and it all seemed to work fine.

Safari was interesting. When I loaded the web app, a lot of items were missing, looked like a lot of the text was not loading. But a couple of reloads later, everything was fine. Then I did the sort command and the custom sort and it all worked.

My suggestion is to try again. Could be something was not loading properly behind the scenes.

Daniel,

This morning when I try to do a custom sort, nothing happens at all. The sort screen does not display. I’ve tried on both Safari and Chrome in two different classes and rebooted my computer.

Any ideas?

Re: “Edit Subject ”options

Oh, that helps. I had hit print yet. Thanks!

Re: “Edit Subject ”options

Daniel Ethier

The web app only displays the subject and term in the upper right. This is a limitation of the grid widget I use. But when you print, it will show the teacher, school, and subject fields. This is exactly the same as the Windows app for Gradekeeper. You can edit those same fields in the web app. You just won't see them unless you print.

“Edit Subject ”options

Jim Cracraft

Hello Daniel,

On the web app, there are the following fields under edit subject: Subject, School, Teacher, Term and only the “Subject” is displayed. On the desktop app, things are a little more flexible and several fields can be displayed and could be re-purposed with different user options. I like to add room number and day/time for my classes but those aren’t options, or don’t seem to be, on the web app. I don’t really need the name field since I am the only one who is teaching this class and it would be nice to see the same flexibility as with the desktop Mac app..

Just wanted to throw that out there as the web app seems to be the way forward. I’m still on on macOS Mojave (version 10.14.6) and use the desktop app for most things.

Thanks,
Jim

Daniel,

I just discovered that I can even move multiple assignments at one time in the Custom Sort! That is extremely helpful. You really outdid yourself in adding this great feature. I have used it extensively!

Thanks again for being so responsive to your users.
