GB2370: Thursday 3 November: London International Concert Orchestra at St. James's, Piccadilly

Message 2370:
THURSDAY 3 NOVEMBER (evening): LONDON INTERNATIONAL CONCERT ORCHESTRA with VIOLINIST ALDA DIZDARI at ST. JAMES'S, PICCADILLY (complimentary seats, with donations welcomed, but advance booking with Peter Harris required - deadline 6pm on Tuesday 1 November)

Alda Dizdari has very kindly offered my group of friends up to 50 complimentary tickets for her forthcoming concert, taking place on Thursday 3 November at St. James's Church, Piccadilly, starting at 7.30pm.

The Programme:  Elgar's Violin Concerto in B minor (Opus 61); and, after the interval, Brahm's Symphony No. 1 in C minor (Opus 68).

The Musicians:  These works will be performed by the Romanian-trained UK-based Albanian violinist Alda Dizdari, who will be the soloist in the violin concerto and the first violinist in the symphony. You may like to read more about her at: . The London International Concert Orchestra ( ) will be conducted by the British conductor Alexander Walker ( ). You can read more details at .

The Venue:  The address is St. James's Church, 197 Piccadilly, W1J 9LL. The nearest tube station is Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly and Bakerloo Lines), but it is also within easy walking distance from Green Park (Piccadilly, Jubilee and Victoria Lines). You can view a map at .

Summary of Timings:  I will be at the ticket desk in the foyer from 7pm until 7.25pm. The main hall will open at 7pm (so if you arrive earlier than that, you will not be able to take your seats), and the performance will start at 7.30pm. There will be an interval of 20 minutes starting at about 8.20pm, and the concert will end at about 9.30pm.

Booking Procedure:  Peter Harris is kindly dealing with booking requests. Please reserve your ticket(s) as soon as possible, and by no later than 6pm on Tuesday 1 November. To do so, send a message to with the following as the subject heading: "Thurs 3 Nov: SJP/comps request/GB". In the body of your message, state your full name and the total number of tickets you require (maximum 2 per applicant). Please type your surname (family name) in CAPITAL letters to make it easier for Peter to produce a guest list in alphabetical order. If you are bringing a guest, you do not need to give that person's name (for example: John SMITH; 2 tickets please). You should expect to receive an acknowledgement within 1 or 2 working days, and in any case by the evening of Wednesday 2 November. Please do NOT book unless you are sure that you can go (and arrive on time), and do not book for a guest unless you are sure to have one. However, if having booked you later realise that you will no longer be able to attend, please e-mail Peter as soon as possible so that your place(s) may be offered to someone on the waiting list. To do this, use the same e-mail address, but include the word "cancellation" in the subject heading and your name in the text.

Ticket Collection:  No paper tickets will be issued. On arrival, look for a table with a sign saying "Friends of Gordon Beal's". I will be at this table from 7pm until shortly before the start of the concert. After I have ticked your name(s) off, you will be able to take your seat(s).

Seating:  Please note that the seats offered to us are in the side pews (both left and right), so please stay in the areas allocated to us. The centre nave is reserved for the paying public.

Children:  Please do not bring children unless they can sit still and quietly, and in any case please note that the minimum age for children is 10 years.

If You Would Like to Give a Donation:  The normal cost of tickets is from £12 to £30 (plus Eventbrite's booking fee), and we are lucky enough to have been offered complimentary tickets. It has cost a lot to organise this concert, and if you would like to support the musicians by purchasing a CD on the night, or by donating some money, this would be much appreciated and can be done in cash or by card. Although the suggested donation is £5, any contributions would be welcomed.
