GB2352: Wednesday 18 May: English Chamber Orchestra at Cadogan Hall
Gordon
Message 2352:
WEDNESDAY 18 MAY (evening): ENGLISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA: STRAVINSKY, MOZART AND SCHUBERT at CADOGAN HALL (limited tickets available at the special price of £10, but advance purchase from Cadogan Hall required)
The English Chamber Orchestra (ECO - http://www.englishchamberorchestra.co.uk ) has kindly offered my group of friends a limited number of tickets at £10 each for their Cadogan Hall concert on Wednesday 18 May, starting at 7.30pm.
Concert Programme: The English Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Venezuelan conductor (and violinist) Giovanni Guzzo ( https://www.giovanniguzzo.com ), perform a contrasting selection of works. Stravinsky’s challenging Concerto in D for String Orchestra ("Basle") is followed by Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, famed for its evocative Andante, performed by Swiss pianist Beatrice Berrut ( https://www.beatriceberrut.com ) who will be making her debut with the Orchestra. After the interval, we will hear Schubert’s joyous and tuneful Symphony No. 5 in B flat major (D. 485). For more details, click on http://www.englishchamberorchestra.co.uk/?/concerts/london-season-eco-with-berrut-and-guzzo or https://cadoganhall.com/whats-on/english-chamber-orchestra-with-beatrice-berrut . There will be an interval of 20 minutes starting at about 8.15pm, and the concert will finish at about 9.15pm.
The Venue: Cadogan Hall (Sloane Terrace, SW1X 9DQ) is very close to Sloane Square tube station (District and Circle Lines, Zone 1). To find Cadogan Hall from this station, turn right and you will be able to see the hall directly ahead of you. You may like to look at the map, bus details and parking suggestions on Cadogan Hall's website: http://www.cadoganhall.com/your-visit/getting-here (scroll down as necessary).
Ticket Price: We have been offered tickets at the very special price of £10 (original price: £37), a considerable reduction. (The normal prices for seats for this concert are £15, £27, £37 and £47.) However, you will need to pay an additional £4 booking fee (this is per transaction, not per ticket) to Cadogan Hall when purchasing your tickets. Please be discreet about this offer and make no mention whatsoever of your discounted tickets (including at the venue or on social media), or future offers could be jeopardised.
Seating: Please note that the seats offered to my members for this concert are the "red" seats (the second highest price, Band B), and you can choose to sit in the Gallery (in blocks E, F, J or K) or the Stalls. You can select your own seat(s) when you book on-line as detailed below.
Ticket Purchase: You will need to purchase tickets in advance using the promotional code MAYGB10, You will need to do this on-line, as the promotional code is not valid for in-person or phone bookings. The code will be valid until just before the concert, but the earlier you book the more choice of seating you will have. To book, click on https://cadoganhall.com/whats-on/eco-with-beatrice-berrut/book/592435 and select either Gallery or Stalls to view available seating. Remember to enter and apply the promotional code when you reach the "Basket" page (on the right-hand side of this page), before going to "Checkout". You should then see that you have saved £27 a ticket. Remember that the code (MAYGB10) will only work for red (£37) seats. Please be aware that Cadogan Hall is changing to e-ticketing, and you should, if possible be prepared to show your ticket(s) on a mobile device or print your ticket(s) at home. However, if (like me) you have neither a smartphone nor easy access to printing facilities, you will be able to collect your ticket(s) from the Box Office before the start of the concert.
Programmes: Programmes can be purchased in the foyer for £3 and contain full programme notes and information about the orchestra and the soloist.
Summary of Timings: 6.30pm - doors to foyer open; 7pm - concert hall opens; 7.30pm - concert starts; 8.15pm (approx.) - interval starts; 8.35pm (approx.) - second part of concert starts; 9.15pm (approx.) - concert ends.
Meeting Gordon: As I am not needed for ticket distribution, you will find me in the foyer, near the bar, from about 7pm, and during the interval.
Sensible Suggestion! The interval is only 20 minutes, so I strongly suggest that you pre-order your interval drinks before the performance starts.
Bringing Children? Please do not bring children unless they can sit still and quietly. Also, please note that in any case children under 7 years old are not permitted in Cadogan Hall.
Cadogan Hall's Coronavirus Policy: You are asked not to attend if you have tested positive or are showing symptoms of Coronavirus, or if you have been asked to self-isolate. Please make use of the hand sanitisers on arrival. Cadogan Hall's ventilation system is very good as it pulls fresh air from outside, and the air is never recirculated. Please note that the cloakroom will NOT be operational, so do not bring large bags. You can read more detailed information at https://cadoganhall.com/your-visit/coronavirus .
