Message 2363:

TUESDAY 27 SEPTEMBER (evening): LONDON FIREBIRD ORCHESTRA: "EUROPEAN CLASSICS: EGMONT" at ST. GEORGE'S, HANOVER SQUARE (50 tickets at the special price of £5, but advance purchase required - deadline: 6pm on Sunday 25 September)

Marc Corbett-Weaver, Artistic Director of the London Firebird Orchestra (LFO), has kindly offered my members up to 50 tickets at the specially discounted price of £5 for their concert on Tuesday 27 September at St. George's, Hanover Square, starting at 7.30pm. Many of you know Marc from previous events. Click on http://www.marccorbett-weaver.com/biography to read more about him.

The Programme:  Beethoven's Egmont Overture; Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major (Opus 37); and, after the interval, Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor (K. 550). The concert will be conducted by the British-Australian conductor Michael Thrift ( https://www.michaelthrift.co.uk/about ), and British pianist George Harliono ( https://georgeharliono.net ) will be the soloist in the piano concerto. You can see more details at https://www.londonfirebird.com/event/egmont . PDF programmes will be emailed to guests on the day.

Venue and Transport Details:  The concert will be held in the Parish Church of Saint George, St. George Street, W1S 1FX ( http://www.stgeorgeshanoversquare.org ), just south of Hanover Square. You may like to view a map at https://tinyurl.com/3yasnar8 and further information at http://www.stgeorgeshanoversquare.org/Getting-here.html . The nearest tube station is Oxford Circus (Central, Victoria and Bakerloo Lines, Zone 1), but Bond Street, Piccadilly Circus and Green Park stations are also within easy walking distance.

The Orchestra:  The LFO is an exciting orchestra whose Patron is Dame Judi Dench. You may like to check the website to see more details of the orchestra, its people and of forthcoming concerts: http://www.firebirdorchestra.com .

Ticket Price:  We have been offered tickets at the special price of £5 (including the booking fee) for tickets in the third tier. The original price is £15 (plus a booking fee of £1.26), so we are lucky to get the tickets for less than one-third.

Booking/Payment Procedure:  Click on https://www.londonfirebird.com/event/egmont , then click on "TicketSource" (bottom right-hand side of screen), or click directly on https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/RevolutionArts/t-kroqzyd , and click on "BOOK NOW". Then select the number of "Third tier" tickets you want to purchase and click on "Next". Type (or copy and paste) GORDON22 in the space for a discount code, and select Eticket for delivery (as this delivery option is free), and click on "use discount code". (Importantly, the code needs to be typed in UPPERCASE letters and Tier 3 needs to be selected). You should see that your total cost has been discounted by £11.26 a ticket, so that you will pay £5.00 (including the booking fee) instead of £15.00 (plus the booking fee). Click on "checkout" to make your purchase by debit or credit card. Note that there is NO NEED to print your ticket(s) as your name will be on a guest list, and the LFO team will email you your seat numbers on the day. The deadline for booking is 6pm on Sunday 25 September, but the offer could be withdrawn earlier should my allocation of 50 tickets become fully subscribed. Please be aware that only those who have purchased their tickets in advance will be able to avail themselves of the special price for my group as no discounted tickets will be available on the night. Anyone arriving without having booked would need to pay the full price at the main ticket desk. Should you have any queries regarding your booking, please email Info@... and not myself.

On Arrival:  Please note that you will not be allowed inside the church until the doors open at 6.45pm. Enter the church by the LEFT-HAND DOOR, and look for a table with a sign saying "Gordon Beal's Guests". I will "meet and greet" you, and tick your names off the list, but no paper tickets will be issued. I will be able to remind you of your seat number if necessary. Although you are asked to arrive in good time, please note that there is no advantage in arriving extremely early as the seats will be numbered and will have been pre-allocated by the LFO team. The concert is likely to be well attended, and it is important that you sit in your allocated seat.

Summary of Timings:  6.45pm - doors open; 7.30pm - concert starts; 8.20pm (approx.) - interval starts; 8.40pm (approx.) - second part of concert starts; 9.25pm (approx.) - concert ends.

Refreshments:  Wine and soft drinks will be available to purchase from 6.45pm and during the interval. You may wish to order your interval drinks before the start of the concert to save queueing in the interval.

TraIn Strike:  Unfortunately, the TSSA (Transport and Salaried Staffs' Association) has planned a 24-hour strike starting at 12 noon on Monday 26 September. The strike is scheduled to end at 12 noon on Tuesday 27 September, but it could take a few hours for things to get back to normal, so make sure you allow a bit of extra time for your journey if you use a line that might be affected.
