GB2360: Thursday 14 July: Exhibition Opening at the Royal Over-Seas League
Gordon
Message 2360:
THURSDAY 14 JULY (evening): PRIVATE VIEW: "LES ANIMAUX MODELES" at the ROYAL OVER-SEAS LEAGUE (free event, but booking through Eventbrite required)
Please join me for the private view of a new exhibition at the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL - https://www.rosl.org.uk ) on Thursday 14 July, starting at 6pm and ending at 8pm.
The Exhibition: This exhibition introduces the work of six contemporary artists (Matilda Barretta, Laura Bygrave, Bill Daggs, Yun Kim, Miro King and Kalman Pool) who were invited to produce stage pieces for a forthcoming concert of Francis Poulenc’s ballet score. Les Animaux modèles was Poulenc's third and final ballet and was originally staged at the Paris Opéra, premiering in 1942. You will have the opportunity to view examples of each artist's current practice in anticipation of this collaborative project. The exhibition also contains two contextual works by influential modern artist Marc Chagall (1887–1985). For more information, click on https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/les-animaux-modeles-private-view-tickets-348044760247 .
Transport and Venue Details: The address of the venue is Royal Over-Seas League, Over-Seas House, 6 Park Place, off St. James's Street, SW1A 1LR. For a map, click on http://tinyurl.com/3jq4clt . The nearest tube station is Green Park (Jubilee, Victoria and Piccadilly Lines, Zone 1), but Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly Lines) is also within easy walking distance. I will meet people inside the exhibition, and not at a station. I aim to arrive a few minutes after it opens.
Reserving your Place(s): Booking through Eventbrite is required. I suggest you book as soon as possible while places remain. Go to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/les-animaux-modeles-private-view-tickets-348044760247 and then click on "Register". Select the number of tickets you want, click on "Register" again, add your contact details and click on "Register" for the final time to complete your booking. You may book for up to 4 people, but to prevent ticket wastage, please do not request more tickets than you are sure to use. If you want to invite others who are not yet sure, I suggest you ask them to book for themselves. (This is important, because with Eventbrite it is not possible to reduce the number of tickets you require without cancelling your entire booking and then rebooking.) After booking, you should receive your e-tickets by return. Please note that you will not have to show your tickets at the venue, so there is no need to print them. As long as you have successfully booked, your names will be on the guest list.
On Arrival: Please go to the reception desk to get your name ticked off the list and receive a ticket for a glass of wine.
