GB2359: Sunday 3 July: Paintings and Poems in Hackney

Gordon

Message 2359:

SUNDAY 3 JULY (evening): OPEN STUDIO, BOOK LAUNCH OF "BEWILDERMENT" AND POETRY (free event, with no booking required)

(Optional) Meeting, Transport and Venue Details:  Meet Gordon on Sunday 3 July, between 5.30pm and 5.40pm, outside Hackney Central London Overground Station (Zone 2). This is on the lines between Richmond and Stratford and between Clapham Junction and Stratford. We will walk for about 15 minutes to 10 Martello Street, E8 3PE. You will see from the map ( https://tinyurl.com/53tnnst8 ) that the studios are close to London Fields London Overground Station, but unfortunately this station will be closed.

The Event:  This event is organised by Moroccan-born London-based French artist Hervé Constant ( https://www.herveconstant.com/about ) and British poet Alan Price ( https://thehighwindowpress.com/2022/02/01/alan-price-four-film-poems-2 ). Both are members of my group and known to many of you. (Some of you came to Hervé's exhibition at Ein Sof Jewish Art Gallery on Tuesday 1 March, but unfortunately there was a tube strike that day making attendance inconvenient for many.) Hervé's studio will be open from 1pm until 7pm on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 July, and again from 1pm on Sunday 3 July, for those preferring to visit individually. On the Sunday, those who enjoy poetry, presented against beautiful encaustic, acrylic, and oil paintings in an atmospheric studio, can join me at the studio from 6pm for the book launch. Around 6.15pm, Hervé and Alan will give a short introduction regarding their collaboration, and readings from the book "Bewilderment" will be shared by the artist and the poet. The book, designed to appeal to both lovers of art and of poetry, comprises paintings by Hervé and poems by Alan and explores the mysterious sense of inwardness and personal identity. The book and some of Hervé's artwork will be available to purchase. Liquid refreshments (wine and fruit juice) will be offered, and the event will end between 7.15pm and 7.30pm.

Summary of Timings:  5.30pm/5.40pm - optional meeting with Gordon at Hackney Central; 6pm onwards - refreshments served; 6.15pm - book launch; 7.15pm/7.30pm - event ends.
