The castings were definitely troublesome. Headstock and the bed were the worst. Although over time it did get better and when I picked up the book by John Campbell, it all started to turn a corner.

I can tell you his videos really helped me as I built and finished my Gingery lathe last year. Great editing and super helpful.

Many thanks, I'm using a much thinner coat, and not pressing down at all. I've also found that the glass bends. It need to be carefully supported to get the same results each time

Dave, Sorry in the USA.
For proper blue thickness on glass, put a sheet of lined paper underneath the glass. Roll or squeegee the blue until you can just see the lines on the paper. Then it is thin
