We are pleased to announce the release of GATE Developer and Embedded version 8.5!  You can download an installer from the usual location at https://gate.ac.uk/download/, and the source code from GitHub.

While this version looks and feels very similar to previous releases, it includes a raft of changes "under the hood" including a completely new approach to plugin management - plugins are now explicitly versioned independently of the core GATE Developer version, and GATE downloads the plugins you require on demand rather than having them bundled with the installer, which makes for a much smaller download.  See the changelog in the user guide for more details.
