Smart matches

I am using FH v6.  When I click on the smart matches that appear next to the name of someone in my family tree, it opens my heritage.  I subscribe to My Heritage but it does not recognize me and asks that I join for a fee.

I am already a member.

How can I change the settings in FH to show that I am a member of My heritage?

Please advise and thank you.

When you click on the link for the MyHeritage hints in the Focus window, the browser opens to show what are the hints available.  At the top of that window there is the option to login to MyHeritage and after doing that you can click on the individual hints to view them.

The problem with FH V6 is that its Web Search window uses a version of Internet Explorer.

So you must be signed in to MyHeritage via Internet Explorer for your account to be active within the FH Web Search window.

You should be able to sign in via the FH Web Search window and then the Smart Searches should be available.

Alternatively, change the Internet > Internet Data Matches > Location to Display Matches to External Browser.

Then FH will use your default browser that you are familiar with to access MyHeritage smart matches.

One snag is that on Windows 10 and Windows 11 it is not so easy to find the Internet Explorer user interface as it is replaced by the Edge browser.

FH V7 uses the Edge browser in the Web Search window so the same rules apply for signing in to MyHeritage via the Edge or use an external browser.

Maria,

If this is something you've experienced for the first time in the past few days, it may be as a result of Microsoft's on-going programme to phase out its Internet Explorer browser.  They disabled IE in Windows 10 last June, and started disabling it in Windows 11 this week.

So, I think there is probably no option but to change the FH V6 settings, to use your default browser, as Mike has suggested.

Thank you very much.  It worked by changing it to the external browser.
