Sample Project - Individual Records Window - Permanent Record Number
Welcome Bob,
I believe that is a number associated with the LDS Ancestral File as defined in the GEDCOM 5.5.1 spec.
It only really exists in FH to support its claim of 100% GEDCOM compatibility.
It can be accessed via the Individual Property Box on the All tab.
Right-click the person’s Name then Add Miscellaneous > Add Permanent Record Number.
I would advise ignoring it.
The Record Id is the unique number allocated to each record within one Project.
It applies to all types of record, whereas Permanent Record Number only applies to Individual records.
There is more advice about Record Id in the FHUG Knowledge Base:
Thank you Mike,
I had assumed that the “Record ID” was assigned by the program as part of its data-management and as such was permanent and uneditable, which is why I asked about the “Permanent Record Number” because that sounded like the same thing.
I couldn’t find anything in the Knowledge Base specifically about the “Permanent Record Number” but I did find a page on “Record Identifiers” which explained a part of “Record ID” and “Custom ID”. I’m still in the dark on the difference between the “Record ID” and the “Automated Record ID”. I’m assuming the “Family Search ID” is self evident!

Bob
Did you find this page in the knowledge base
https://fhug.org.uk/kb/link/gedcom-standard-release-5-5-and-5-5-1-3/
I’ve been playing with Gedcom since my first PC many years ago and the first time I’ve heard of it – so shows how often it is used
As Mike said “if its in the standard then Calico Pie added the option”
