Hi, I'm new to FH and this is my first post.
When I add photos from file, are the photos copied into FH or are they just accessed from the hard drive? What I'm getting at is, if I move the photos to a different location within the HD, will FH still be able to show them?

Thanks,
Eric

This depends on if you have created a Project,  if you have it will ask you if you want to copy the media across (the recommended option),  if you are doing this then you can remove the old copies of the media.   If you have not created a Project then it will not move any media.  I recommend Projects are always used as there are quite a few functions which are not available if you don't.

You can check the location of any media using the Tools>External Media option from the menu.

Hi Eric,

Whether you copy or not, they are still on the hard drive as separate files, but just in a different folder.

If you leave them outside the Project folder and move them then FH will lose track of them until you tell it where they are.

There is much more on this topic and many other topics in the FHUG Forums and Knowledge Base at https://www.fhug.org.uk/

Jane who has also answered is the administrator there.

Thanks. It seems that I have got them all within the Project. Most are in the Media folder, 3 are in the Photos sub-folder

Thank you. That's what I thought.
