Charting Companion and Family Historian
Dee
Hi All,
A few questions:- 1) I would like to know if Charting Companion version 7 or 8 is compatible with Family Historian 7? 2) Is it better to buy Charting Companion version 7 or 8? 3) I am looking to buy Charting Companion as it has descendent fan charts but not sure whether to get version 7 or 8? 4) I have already trialled Charting Companion version 7. Is there a free trial available for Charting Companion version 8? I look forward to an early reply. Thank you and kind regards Dee |

Hi Dee I've never used this program, but I've just downloaded the Free Trial of v8 I can't recommend 7 or 8 obviously, but it would probably best go for v8 This is their page Create Fantastic Family Tree Charts Using Charting Companion (progenygenealogy.com) It states it is compatible with FH (doesn't state a version) and the Free Trial button will download v8 (I can't see a v7 trial version) Best Wishes Neil.

Hi Dee,
I have both versions installed, and have used CC for many years, to answer your question, both versions are compatible with FH 7, however, neither version handles formatted text, so for example if you edit the Name Fred Bloggs in your notes and change it to bold and change font size, it will be displayed in charting companion notes as <clr="FF0000"><b><fs="+2">Fred Bloggs</clr></b> i.e. it will display the codes rather than bold. Other than that, I think it is fine. |
