Places in the Focus Window & Property Box

Gill

I would find it very useful to be able to see at a glance, the places where, for instance, children were born, in both the focus window and property box. Whereas in the records window I can add extra columns I don’t see any way to do the same in the window and box. It would be useful to be able to see how the family moved for instance, when looking at search results. I appreciate there isn’t so much space in the property box but there certainly is in the focus window.

I did search the knowledge base but couldn’t find an answer there either positive or negative.

Thank you,

Gill

Hi Gill,

Currently, there is no customisation available to show child birth (or death) places in the Focus Window or Property Box.

There is the FHUG Wish List entry Ref 544 Place details for Children in Focus Window that you can Vote for.

In the meantime, try the Quick Family Facts plugin that displays details for the whole family.

An alternative I forgot to mention is to create a Diagram that may need customising for exactly what you want to see displayed.

An All Relatives diagram with only 2 generations up & down and the Birth, Marr, Death text scheme would be a good start.

It tends to show more of the family group than the Focus Window as it includes extra spouses and siblings.

Thanks, Mike, I’ll add my name to the wish list and investigate the plugin. I’ll also try your suggestion for the all relatives diagram. It’s so good to have somewhere to ask these things!
