Duplicate repository entries

David Anderson

Hi

Following on from the "duplicate citations" discussion, I have a problem with duplicate repository entries. Is there any way to merge them?

Regards
David

As Repositories is one of the tabs in the records window you can use the method I quoted in the email to Richard on Monday

If the tab is not showing then use the tools/preferences/records window to make them visible

David, John's reply assumes that you need to merge duplicate Repository records, but I don't think that is your problem.    Your screenshot shows that you have a templated Source record with multiple Repository fields.   I don't know how that happened, but I think you will just need to delete most of them, leaving one.   Highlight each one in turn and press the delete key.   I don't think you can delete several at once, but someone else may know if that can be done.

Thanks John,

Unfortunately I seem to be missing something on the merge

I also wonder how that has happened. Can David enlighten us?

The easiest way to delete them is to close FH and open the GEDCOM file in a plain text editor such as Notepad (NOT MS Word).

Search for a series of lines that all start with the same 1 REPO @R…@ and delete them.
