Updating Issue
Patrick Maloney
I am currently running FH version 7.0.11. I believe the latest version is 7.0.15.
When I click on 'Check for Updates', I get a message 'Unable to determine whether new updates are available. Please try again later.' This message has been appearing for some days now. Could anyone suggest why this might be happening? Thanks in advance. Patrick |

I can't be of much help determining why you are getting this message. In case you are not aware, you can always download the latest version from https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7. Bill On 9/5/2022 at 4:18 PM, Patrick Maloney

I followed the link Bill gave, then clicked on the tab for Latest Free Update. There it tells me to click on the Help item in FH then 'Check for
Updates'... I'm going in circles. Did I go to the wrong place? Is there another way to get updates or am I stuck with 7.0.11 forever? Thanks, Patrick On 06/09/2022 00:24, BillH wrote:

The link https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7 takes you straight to the FH V7 download page. There is no need to click on any tab. The page is titled ‘Install Family Historian 7’ and has its own ‘Step 1 – Download and Install’ section with a Download “Family Historian 7” large green button.

Yes, Rich, that can work but is not always reliable. If you should ever need to re-install that specific version of FH (not some later version) do you have the downloaded installation .exe file? I suspect not unless you have discovered where it gets downloaded.

Hi Rich, Yes, that is how it should work, but if you read my original posting (below), you'll see that it doesn't work for me. Patrick On 11/09/2022 14:34, Richard

If you go to that page there is a large green button labeled Download "Family Historian 7". Click on that and the install file is downloaded to your computer. Click on it and it will install the update. Bill On 9/11/2022 at 6:22 AM, Patrick

Are others still having this problem? I am using the latest version fortunately, but have the issue checking for updates still.
