Deleting an individual

James Pam

I have created a child, parents and grandparents in my project. I now realise that the grandparents are the childs parents and the 'parents' need to be deleted. How do I do this? Is it as simple as highlighting the individual and edit/delete? Will, what I thought were grandparents become the childs rightful parents?

Personally, I would unlink the children from 'parents' and link them to correct couple.  Then the 'parents' should have no links up or down, so safe to delete, or simply leave in the database in case they crop up somewhere else

Lesley is nearly correct, but one parent will still be linked to the grandparents and their spouse.

In the Focus Window, right-click child and Unlink Record.

Link the child to the ‘grandparents’ as parents using Add Child > Link Existing Record.

Then you can right-click Delete each parent, which will also delete their Family record.
