Iām not saying that Windows 11 issues are guaranteed to arise. But the feedback from dozens if not hundreds of users via a reputable Windows Newsletter and the experienced gurus who have tried out Windows 11 suggests that there are significant risks with Windows 11 and significant changes that are a step backwards (or at least different) relative to Windows 10. Yes, if you are experienced enough to know where to look and how to analyse the current status of Windows 11 then by all means take the risk. However, history suggests that any major software upgrade is bound to have glitches, and Windows 11 and FH v7.0 are no exception. I would rather others experience those glitches and get them fixed first before I upgrade, or be certain that I have a way back. Unfortunately, 10 days after upgrading to Windows 11 it may not be very easy to revert to Windows 10. For FH v7.0 I have made sure I can revert to FH v6.2 if necessary, but it is a bit tricky. Ā From: family-historian@groups.io <family-historian@groups.io> On Behalf Of Neil Grantham via groups.io Ā Viktor Windows 11 is NOT beta software. What Mike was implying was that from what he's read, it is 'effectively' beta software. Microsoft would NOT release beta software to the general public in the manner you received the update notice. Many people prefer to leave major updates like this until issues get ironed out, which is what Mike is doing. I have been on Windows 11 for several weeks, with no problems other than an odd interface on my Epson scanning software, but no doubt Epson will update to fix this in due course. Best Wishes Neil. |

To post screenshots follow the FHUG Knowledge Base advice 'Forum Usage Tips' for Attachments and Taking Screenshots: https://fhug.org.uk/kb/kb-article/forum-usage-tips/ If you had started a posting in the FHUG Forum and asked about screenshots there it would be easier to point at that KB advice. -----Original Message-----

I wonder if I had added these BMD's directly to the person. That is not via Ancestral sources. So could the problem be with AS and Win 11? I can add the census image directly with no problem which is what I do with photos I only upgraded to Win11 when a message appeared on my computer to upgrade. There was no indication that it was a beta version. If there was I wouldn't have upgraded. I have tried to post an image on FHUG forum but haven't been able to do it. Tried to paste it. Nothing happened. For the record all photos I have added via the person in the photo have all appeared on the narrative report Victor |

Yes, when I do this I only get pictures of people, I do not get any other pictures. However if I publish a book I get all the pictures I would expect. So, apparently, not a Win 11 issue. I was trying to help you test your issue as I am running Win 11 also. I seem to have confused everyone so I will step out of this. -----Original Message-----

I have checked my own birth certificate and prompting 'edit' the options to exclude the image from 'diagram ' 'report 'use link note as caption' are all greyed out. I tried this on a census image with the same result I have prompted 'use to existing media record' and was able to download the image and also use the above mentioned options. On that image I now have 2 of the same images. On the previous image the above mentioned options are still greyed out The changes must have happened when upgrading to Win 11 has made this happen. Perhaps another shut down and open will sort this. I will do this later Victor |

You need to check the Media record File Links for those images. Do they refer to the Project internal Media folder or do they have a full path from drive letter and folders to the image file? Use File Explorer to check whether the image files actually exist at the specified location on disk. Use the FH command Tools > External File Links... and tick Show Broken Links Only. I would expect that to list your problematic images and confirm that they are not saved on disk where FH expects. You can try the Auto Repair Links button that tries to locate those missing images and correct the File Links. Is it possible that some reorganisation files on your PC may have accidentally moved or deleted those images? -----Original Message-----
