Thank you so much everyone.  I am grateful for your help.

This is a bit longwinded but useful for newcomers.

On the Calico Pie website there is a Support tab with various options:

https://www.family-historian.co.uk/support/support-overview

That leads to the Family Historian User Group at:

https://www.family-historian.co.uk/community/fhug

and that links to https://www.fhug.org.uk/ where there are Forums, the Knowledge Base, a Wish List, Ancestral Sources and much more…

Yuletide Greetings, Mike Tate

Jenny - I'm new to FH and will be downloading it this week.  I've tried to find this "knowledge base" you mentioned.  I didn't see anything specific to that title on the website.  I've found the forums, etc.  Can you direct me to the knowledge base of which you are referring?  Is this something that is in the download?  THANKS

Following the long awaited launch of V7, there has inevitably been a deluge of questions and emails about the upgrade process and the new features. This forum is a great help.

However, many of the questions have already been dealt with on the FH site and in the knowledge base. Whilst I would never wish to deter anyone from asking for help, please folks, read what is readily available before criticising/complaining about the way the launch has been implemented and the new features. This is a big upgrade, particularly on sources and citations and will take us all some time to get up the learning curve.I spent a couple of hours today methodically reading the help notes and the Knowledge base and it's becoming clear that the FH7 offers some powerful new tools. I wish I'd had these facilities when I started out in V2! The "citations to source record" tool is very handy.

Where I think it will take time is for plugins and customisations to be ironed out and minor tweaks on report formats. The new menu layouts need learning, but I've been using V7 today - a bit slower than usual and a couple of frustrations but it's a real improvement. The record and focus windows have barely changed and I'm really looking forward to populating the "research notes" window - a much more efficient way of recording "to dos" in real time and not losing the bit of paper where I wrote that brilliant idea!

I'm looking forward to learning more about V7, Well don all at Calico Pie!
