Sources and their links
In addition to a query there is also a plugin called ‘List All Citations for a Source’ which includes the exact fields where the source has been cited. You can click on the relevant cell in the Results set to open the Property Box with the focus on the right fact. It also includes records of all types, not just Individual records. (e.g. the source may be used in a family record or a note record).
But the quickest way to see a list of records where the Source is used is to select the Source in the Records window then use View > Record Links. This list will include records of all types but not the exact fields where the source is used.

Hi John
In the Records Window under the Sources tab, select the source in question and then go to the View menu at the top of the screen and click on "Record Links". This will bring up a list of records linked to that source. You can filter the results by record type or show all of them. When you select one of the records, a "Go To" button appears which when you click it will take you straight to the Property Box for that record. Hope that helps. Thanks everyone. Apologies for delay in getting back but have been out today. Great advice as usual and Mike the "where used" plugin works a treat. Interestingly I also spotted a plugin by Jane Taubman called "all citations for a source" which does exactly what it says on the tin. Guess I should have checked the plugin store first.
thanks again, the help on here is always appreciated John |

Most of the citations I checked had only 2 or 3 individuals attached. However, when I come across a larger amount, I will try the Query & Plugin method. Kind Regards Maureen Mitchell On 23 September 2020 at 13:12 Mike Tate <post@...> wrote: |

Yes, Maureen, that will work, but with 10 Citations gets quite tedious.
Also, trying to find exactly where the Citation is among all the facts is laborious. The Query and Plugin solutions take you directly to all 10 Citations in one go. Mike Tate |

Yes, John see the FHUG Knowledge Base ~ Finding where Records are used: https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:finding_where_records_are_used
The most comprehensive solution is the Where Used Record Links plugin.

Hi John,
There is a custom query called More Facts Linked to a Source which will display the specific events to which you have attached the citations (as long as the citation is among the first six for that event). You can download if from the FHUG site here: https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:more_facts_linked_to_a_source_v4_onwards#description Andy |

There is a standard query "Individuals linked to Source" that will prompt you for the relevant source and then displays a list of all those Individuals where that source has been used. It won't give the actual data field where used but at least you know the individual. Brian On 23/09/2020 07:53, johnfirr via

I am in the process of doing a long and laborious tidy up of my FH data as over the years I have managed to adopt several different naming styles for sources and I now have a system I am really happy with so I am trying to get everything in the same format.
I have a problem in that some of my earliest entries were very sloppy so I have for example a source in the records window merely titled "general internet search" ( I,m sure we have all done it !!). Now that source is shown as being used as a citation ten times. Problem I have is I cant work out how I find the ten individuals that the citations relate to? I,m guessing that as usual I have missed something obvious but is there an easy way to find where a source has been used directly from the records window ( or is there a query etc?) Thanks in anticipation of the help I always receive. John |
