Hello Lorna,
Thanks for your comments. I exported my Gedcom file from Genbox.
I have read the notes under 'Importing to Family Historian' and it
describes exactly the procedure I followed.
I'll read all the relevant stuff I can find about this and get
back to the group if I'm still stuck.
Thanks,
Patrick

In Patrick’s first post he said the
sentence FH generates for his Address fact is 'He experienced
Address on ...’. So it must be an event, not an attribute.
Patrick,
You didn’t say which software you had
previously been using but do follow the link Mike gave, where
there is detailed advice about the ‘quirks’ of importing from
many other particular programs. Scroll down to the section
headed ‘Importing to Family Historian’ and select the program
you have been using. It’s probably in the list. (If it’s not,
this will present a new challenge for Mike!)
As an example of the things which need to
be considered, in FH there is a distinction between a Place
and an Address. Depending on which software you were
using the ‘Address’ facts you have imported probably refer to
Places as well as, or instead of, Addresses. Where is FH
currently storing the data from your Address fact? Is it an
Uncategorised Data Field (UDF)? Is it in a Note field, or a
Place field, or an Address field? Do you want the entire
‘Address’ to go in the Place field of the new Residence
attribute?

Hi
Patrick,
I
suspect the root problem is that you are not working through
the advice I have posted in enough detail.
The
is much advice in the FHUG Knowledge Base ~ Importing to
Family Historian:
https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:index#importing_to_family_historian
In
particular, there is advice about handling the Uncategorised
Data Fields (UDF).
Until
such issues are resolved, some Plugins may struggle to cope
with them as they don’t know what they mean.

Any Fact Tag Plugin?
https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=plugins:index
I
am sure that the UDF tag _ADDR is NOT your Address
fact. That _ADDR tag will be listed in the All
tab as a UDF.
You
say FH lists Address with a Sentence using
the word Address on the Facts tab so I
assumed it was a custom fact.
Therefore,
in the Plugin it is under Tag Set <Custom Facts>
with Tag Name EVEN-ADDRESS (or possibly
_ATTR-ADDRESS).
To
be honest I had not expected you to leap into using the
Plugin without asking for further advice.
Migrating
GEDCOM from product to product is often more complex than
users realise.

Hi again Mike!
OK, update. I found a UDF tag, _ADDR that seemed to be the
one I was looking for. I selected it and clicked the '_ADDR
UDF Tag to Residence' button. I ran it against a single
individual, and received 6 warnings about invalid tags and the
message: 'Check that the Source and Target are compatible',
which I guess they weren't.
The change to the record was simply the addition of a new
blank 'Residence' fact.
I'm out of my depth here.
