In general FH is very stable.
Does this happen at a specific point, for example when viewing a diagram? If you provide detailed information about when it closes it will be easier to narrow down the

I have had the same problem after many years with FH. It seems to happen when the webbrowser is open and in particar when transfering data from Ancestral sources. It seems not to happen if the website

The browser embedded within FH is the Internet Explorer Shell so unless the external browser is Internet Explorer it is highly unlikely to interact.

Assuming you have entered her date of birth, use Tools > Re-order Out-of-Sequence Data.

Would it achieve my object if I simply copied all my projects on to a memory stick and loaded the new PC from that?

No, the transfer mechanism does not matter, and a memory stick is one of the best methods.
The problem is that those C: drive and X media won't make it onto the memory stick.
