Note for Addresses
dave@...
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can add a note to an Address?
I use Address and Place for events and whilst you can add a note to a Place you don't seem able to do the same for an address. The issue is that I have a lot of addresses in Salford, which is obviously the Place and still exists. However a lot of the area was either bombed during the war or was the subject of slum clearance in the 50s and 60s. It would be nice to add a note to the Address to identify where it was. At the moment all I can think of is to add a note to every person and event, which is both a pain and goes against single instancing. Thanks Dave |

Re: Export to Tribal Pages
Robin, The exported Family record is the most important element. If there is no Status and no Marriage event then the Family (FAM) record only contains the HUSB, WIFE and CHIL links to family members. If there is a Status then it is included in a local Note as “1 NOTE Marriage Status: Unmarried Couple” (or Never Married, etc). I would be surprised if that local Note had any affect on Tribal Pages, so changing the Status is unlikely to do anything.
I’ve had a quick look in Tribal Pages and see where it can be edited to allow partners to be unmarried. However, I have no idea how that status can be imported via GEDCOM, especially as there is no GEDCOM export option. Have you any ideas on how we could find out?

I have just noticed an issue with my export to Tribal Pages. A couple shown as 'unmarried couple' in FH transfers and is changed to 'Married' within Tribal Pages instead of Partner (their title instead of unmarried). Now this translation error is possibly within Tribal Pages but I am wondering if I should label these 'unmarried couples' as 'never married' instead? Has anyone else found this anomoly? |

I enter all marriages using Ancestral Sources. I've tended to add "unknown" witnesses as 'Just a Name, not in file' and adding ones I suspect of being related/connected in some (other) way to FH with an informed guess on the relationship (with a cautionary Note). I guess there are a couple of drawbacks there. One that I forget that the relationship I've guessed at is wrong, but it doesn't get corrected, the other being that I lose sight of someone who later turns out to be connected by some other route. Initially I think I was reluctant to add in people I couldn't link to in some way to avoid "cluttering up" my data file. Possibly not the best strategy in the long run........ Re: Associating individuals
Sheila, presumably those wedding witnesses are already added as Fact Witnesses to the Marriage events?

Details about possible relationships could be added to their Notes. -----Original Message-----

Re: Associating individuals
Hi Bev, Associated Person links are one-way only. So to obtain a reverse association you must repeat the process and add Gus as Associated Person for Geri probably with a different Relationship.
To show associations on the Main tab use the Menu > Customize Property Box… option. See Help page https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help/fh7/hh_start.htm#propertyboxcustomize.html Enable both parts as Association: INDI.ASSO and Relationship: INDI.ASSO.RELA Then you can enter those details directly on the Main tab without using the All tab.
If you use this feature a lot, there is an Associations custom Property Box tab in the FHUG Downloads: https://fhug.org.uk/kb/download/associated-persons-3/

I opened Gus, went to All tab and added associated person Geri as you with a relationship value.
Two questions - Where does it show up on Geri? How do I configure it to show on the Main tab for either person? Thanks, Bev |

Hi Trevor, It's an option I considered, but to make the association, I'd have to make some sort of decision on a relationship. Thanks, Patrick On 25/07/2022 23:01, Trevor Rix wrote:

Re: Associating individuals
It is possible to add an Associated Person via the All tab.
Right-click the person's name and choose Add Miscellaneous > Add Associated Person > Add Link... Having done that you can add a subsidiary Relationship value. You can also add a local Note and a Source Citation. It is possible to configure the Main tab to show the Associated Person link and Relationship. Mike Tate |

I also usually add a note recording the potential relationship and perhaps a to do note for further research.

Associating individuals
Patrick Maloney
Hello All,
I've searched unsuccessfully for this on FHUG, maybe I missed something. I have a number of individuals on my FH project who are there because I think they may be related to more securely fixed individuals. For example, I have a 72-year old lady staying with my 3G grandmother on the 1851 census. She has my ancestor's maiden name. However, I can as yet find no other trace of her. I believe that she must be related in some way, maybe an aunt. Is there a way to associate these two individuals in a loose way? As I can't demonstrate a familial link except by name and proximity, I don't want to add her as an aunt or whatever. I'll be grateful for any comments or advice. Thanks, Patrick |

Do you mean Ancestry? FH only supports hints from MyHeritage and FindMyPast.
