Date   

Time set 00:00 on some Media Files

Hello all,
I noticed a few days ago that some of the media files that I have saved on Family Historian 6 have the correct date but the time is 00:00.
This seems to happen to two files then corrects itself for about five or six files.
I'm downloading from Scottish Baptism's on Findmypast. Selecting Show in Folder. Then changing the file name to what is appropriate to me. The time is showing correctly. Then in Family Historian go to the Property Box clicking the Media tab, Add Media, Insert from file. But the time is set to 00:00 on occasions.

Mike, If you have only recently migrated from your old PC to a new one, then there may be many customisations that have not been migrated.

What strategy did you adopt?

There is the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin designed for the job.

Many customisations are hidden away where you might not find them such as in the Windows Registry.

 

To transfer one Query, on the old PC use File > Import/Export > Export > Query and choose the one to migrate.

Copy the exported file to the new PC and use File > Import/Export > Import > Query and choose that copied file.

 

I suspect by copying it into the Query > Custom folder you have confused FH because that is the installation process.

P.S. Have you any backups?

If yes, are they FH Backup ZIP files or something else?

What is the file path to those Projects/GEDCOM?

Do they use cloud storage such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive?

If you use Windows File Explorer can you see the ‘missing’ GEDCOM files?

The fact that all three have gone missing suggests some common factor.

So what significant change have you made since yesterday?

Please answer as many of those questions as possible.

Just a thought, I assume you're using Windows? If you know which folder the GEDCOM files are stored in open Windows Explorer, drill down to the Folder (don't open it) that would have held it, right click with the mouse and go to "Properties" at the foot of the menu that appears.  Have you got a tab that says "Previous Versions".  If you have, try restoring an earlier version of the folder. somewhere else.  If you haven't got "Previous Versions" then its not configured and I advise you Google it and turn it on.  I have mine set to 06:00 and 13:00.  I would set it at least 2x per day.

When you have lost valuable data that took hours to put together a few times you will learn to have your own backup strategy.  There is a free version of SyncbackPro and if you can master ORA (which I'm currently struggling very hard with) you can certainly handle setting up SyncbackPro to the Cloud.

As long as you make a note of the Individual records involved (ideally their Record Id) then it is safe to Unlink Record and subsequently relink them where needed if necessary.

That can be used for Children and Husband and Wife wherever needed.

Display Joanot ROSSICH in the Focus Window and he should have two entries, one for Eulalia and one with no spouse.

Under the entry with no spouse click right-each Child in turn and choose Unlink Record.

Yes, families of spouses of direct ancestors are not currently included even in an All Relatives Diagram.

It is rumoured that will be improved in FH V7.

I have opened a parent window, entered the parent, but it is not showing on the diagram!  It's the first time that this has ever happened!  Anyone any ideas please?  I've deleted and re-entered and still the same. Michele
