Managing places
I've just spent 3 days geocoding the German part of my one name study, and I sure don't want to do it again! How does one import and export all this excellent place data so it can be reused, edited,

To be pedantic the census material is not the responsibility of the GRO
All census material up to 1921 is with the National Archives
1801 to 1851 are all in class HO which is Home

Re: Second Source
FamilySearch has actual images.
I agree that you want to record as much as you can against a single source ("THE census page", wherever found), rather than making a new source for the same

Re: Second Source
Mike, you might want to re-read the original email... Paul explicitly says he’s using a DEA, and that he’s using two sites that only provide transcriptions not images for the 1891 census.

Am I right in that both FamilySearch and FreeCen only provide transcriptions of the census, and you’re not working with an actual census image?

Re: Learning to write Plugins
‘if...then...else...’ isn’t impossible in a Query, but could get complex with nested functions.
The separate rows would be a challenge in a Query though.

Re: Learning to write Plugins
Is you requirement so specialised that it can’t be handled by a Query? A plugin feels a bit like a sledgehammer to crack a nut otherwise (except as a learning exercise).
