Hello Ken,
Look at Menu - Tools - Preferences - Backup
Otherwise when you do a backup (Menu - Backup) you can specify the directory.
Having trouble finding a backup. Use File Explorer - Search.

The default is Documents > Family Historian Projects. To choose where to put the project, go to File > Backup/Restore > Backup options.

I've installed the plugin and backed up my settings to external drive ready for the new PC.
Will read the KB carefully to make sure I have all bases covered.

Yes, you guessed correctly. You need to copy customisation settings, and there is a KB article.
BTW: You should have been copying such custom settings between your PC and laptop all the while.

Just to add that there is a separate (standard) Probate fact which you can use to record the date probate was granted. There you can use the Note field to record which of the executors

There are normally two important dates in regards to wills: the date it was written, and the date of probate. The two often follow each other in quick succession as people presumably only felt it
